I purchased this about 1 1/2 weeks ago and already can feel a difference in the power but not a huge difference which is to be expected. They said it takes a few weeks for the ECU to relearn with the chip. And it is relearning.

My car has always been quite slow except for when it is still warming up. During this time it has tons of power. Once it's fully warmed up the power drops a bunch. The car had no problems before the chip (or after). I have Borla headers, stock intake (due to most intakes causing a huge loss of low end on my car), and Stromung Exhaust with midpipe. Spark Plugs have always extremely clean. I have a 1999 2.5RS Auto (no turbo).

I do not have dyno figures to support what my butt dyno feels because I didn't feel like spending $300 total for a before and after dyno run. BUT!, for the last 5 months I have been trying to reach a certain speed on a onramp (going uphill no less) when I go to work. The fastest I have been able to do on this onramp is 75mph at this white mark. Well Saturday (with chip) I tried it again and I hit 80mph. (I try almost every day unless there are cars coming, then I don't) I was running the same brand of gas I always use. Part throttle response on the highway has really improved. Top end is better but not much which is to be expected with stock intake (minus snorkle thingy).

Now the car feels like it does during the warm up period. Good linear power.

I am very happy with the TC2 Auto chip. I believe results are going to vary widely per car. I was told by Kevin that I would feel a little something immediately but I didn't. It has been happening slowly just like the web site says.

I would say that if you have a completely stock car to not waste your money. But if you have all the major mods then it is worth the money. Plus, it is one step in the turbo path.

I want to get the tc2 chip for my 5speed, how hard was it for you to hook up your auto tc2 chip to your ecu?

thanks,

Actually, I had them hook it up for me. Kinda spendy but I didn't want to fudge up anything. If they messed something up then I could just take it back and have them fix it.

There are others on the board that have hooked it up themselves and said it wasn't to hard.

JC Sports site is www.jcsportsinc.com but last I checked (about 2 days ago) it was down. Although I really like JC Sports and have spent a good amount of money there (and will continue to) unless you live in Colorado I say try to get it through Larry Ganz (if he's selling them). Or find a friend out here and have them order it for you. Their internet service and shipping is sub-par. But most of their products are top notch.

By the way, I did an ECU reset today (had to when I was installing my oil pressure gauge) and wow what a difference. I had the chip installed 2 weeks ago and just decided to let the ECU relearn. Well it took a while to feel some difference. BUT, after the ECU reset today, BAM! definitely more power than before (not like a turbo or anything but it's the first mod where I have actually felt a real difference). I can't wait to get an intake on this thing!

The TC2 install is kind of a pain because you'll need to cut and solder to wires leading to your ECU connector harnesses. The first challenge is figuring out the right wires to use. Since there are 3 harnesses and a bunch of wires hanging out of each one, it's sometimes hard to figure out which wire to cut even if you have a diagram.

I think there was a post a long time ago about installation of one of these and the colors of all of the wries you ened to tap or cut. That would probably help you a lot. I know I almost snipped the wrong wire doing my install because it had so many neighbors and I couldn't figure out which color it was.

Other than that, if you have soldering skills it's not too bad. Just be aware that you'll be doing all this cutting and soldering in your passenger foot well, so it's a little cramped.

 thus is my every day experience @ work...I am only paranoid of being around the ECU.

So what different between the auto and manual chip?

I don't know what the major differences are other than the manual chip would throw a CEL in an auto. They tried before and had problems.

I thought it was something to do with the "fuel curve"?? being different on the auto. Don't quote me because my memory is very foggy on this. Something was very different I just don't remember.

For those that want to install the TC2 themselves. I'm the one that posted instructions on the chip. Just do a search under my name in the "N/A forum" as well as TC2 and you should be able to find it.

All I can say is that before you go and spend your hard eanred money, do some searches in the forums...especially, in the New England forum!:)
