Place banana peels on the floors where the camera crews will see him. And Segways.

Doesn't the president stop in at least once a year? Kinda cool.

Ktuu: "Anchorage, Alaska - Air Force One landed at Elmendorf Air Force Base at about 2:20 p.m. President Bush and first lady Laura Bush are making a short stop at the base before heading to Kyoto, Japan."

Not quite, they don't know arrivals and departures usually. I am not talking about the obvious stuff. The point is, just be careful what you post in a public forum.

Yeah, I avoided that part of base like the plague today. I'm kinda with GeorgeRex, kinda didn't need to know his departure time, just for future reference or whatever.

Well, the TV stations with film crews all were informed about and invited to A.F. 1's landing and (I assume) takeoff, to the minute. Every pilot who needed to get within 30 miles of Elemendorf AFB today (including me) also had a pretty close idea of the timetable, since we had to jump through some different air traffic control hoops for a while. I'm thinking our little forum is probably not guilty of any subversive acts.

I'm with Sparky...not that someone is going to keep a vote.

I wonder if Spooln4 told the president at his departure, "thanks for visiting ... is there anymore specific intel that wasn't released in the news that I can post on NASIOC?"

But what do I know, I'm only a civilian.

yeah i guess thats why you have no clue. anyways this is kinda pissin me off, well where do i start. oh yes i do this for a LIVING. i see all kinds of people...Canadian Prime minister...Secretary of Defense...just to name a few, and this so called "intel" is not that at all. Its media.

I guess being cilvilian or not, maybe you guys dont read the paper. George Bush came and stopped here today to give a speech to the military members and spouses on this base. his stop here was the first leg of a flight to japan and korea.

THE WHOLE REASON for this was to improve his image of the war on terrorism to the public eye. It was a motivational speach for everyone.
If you had been there you would have seen ALL the other people civilian or military outside the fences taking pictures and seeing THE MAN!

my security clearence is well above most so believe me if this was classified my name would not even be on this thread.

so please if you have no idea what you are talking about or cant read a newspaper, dont be tool and try and flame somebody who does or can at that matter.

so i yeah i saw the president today and was 30 feet from him, can you say you've done that. :D

Over the years, I've met many people in the military with various security clearances, etc. When special visitors visit (even if it's public information), they keep quite tight lipped about their activities, whether they are involved or not. After the visitor has been there, then they usually don't say much, even if the info went public. And I respect them for that (their silence on the matters). Sparky's post was about as normal for this kind of thing.

Everyone has their job to do. At first, I had thought your post was a bunch of macho bravado, example = "... i had to work his plane.... he is about to go back out in about an hour on his way to japan. im at work right now waiting on him to come back to the plane". Later you state "...oh yes i do this for a LIVING. i see all kinds of people...Canadian Prime minister...Secretary of Defense...just to name a few, and this so called "intel" is not that at all. Its media....my security clearence is well above most so believe me if this was classified my name would not even be on this thread..."

So from my civilian point of view, you're response, "so i yeah i saw the president today and was 30 feet from him" is more of the example of what I have come to expect from others in the military and the other details just seemed to be more than I would've expected of someone so close to the situation.

Go ahead and share this thread with your work underlings, associates, and superiors so you all can laugh about my inability to read the paper. I'm sure they would find it equally amuzing.

well then dont respect my actions.... all i am saying is that this is my F'n job and have been doing it for a while. I know what i can and cant say and all i did was just repeat what the media covered. Nothing more...nothing less. so go ahead and think that what i did was a breach of national security

You disclosed information that you should not have - be a man/woman and say sorry or oops. Don't be a blowhard - hubris has brought down many people like you. You are not impressing me with your credentials or your clearances - can you guess why? Ask someone on HMX1 what the classification of POTUS' schedule is.

Spooln4's initial post didn't expose some secret info. If he'd given details, I'd be right there with you, tisking away.

He said the pres is here, and he's short, and he's leaving in an approximate time to go to a non-secret location. Sure, the prudent thing would be to not say anything, other than maybe he saw the president. But it's not like he gave a specific time, runway, flightpath, etc.

Leaving in about an hour isn't news here. Anchorage is a fueling stop. It's very brief. It's not like he's going downtown with his wife to pick up some moose poop earrings and stuffed penguins. He was on base, a secure facility?

I see the concern here, but I think for this instance perhaps it's been blown a little out of proportion. And now the military e-muscles are rippling.

I'm sure the terrorists didn't notice the flying billboard landing at Elmendorf either. I'm sure they have enough brains to know that it'll have to take-off.

I think it's weird when people get bent out of shape about information that's in the paper.

Please forgive me if I don't know the lingo or proper protocol.

I heard this story where there was this weapons of mass destruction team. Part of the crew was down in the hot zone (full suits, collecting samples) while the officer that was was supposed to be monitoring the instruments was online and looking up "How to pick up MILF's."

Needless to say, the rest of the team didn't find it too funny or less than serious.

Mavrik
11-16-2005, 02:46 PM
Why? because he didn't hook them up with some MILFs to? :D

in all seriousness though... that officer should have been punished for that. His milf searching could have cost the team their lives...

I think it's weird when people get bent out of shape about information that's in the paper.

I honestly don't know, so I'm seriously asking--was this stuff in the paper before the visit, or after it was said and done? During the fact and after the fact are two different things (IF anything "usable" was truly said).

I'm not supporting either side, but I am one that is an "err on the side of caution" kinda guy. :)

oh man, hah what have I done. hah never thought I would start arguments and such.

Dang, you're such a JERK!
