Yeoman 09-04-2001, 02:48 PM I have this installed right on my throttle body with the hood scoop opened and i definitely feel a power increase along with the awesome sound. I like it. GregBolby 09-04-2001, 02:54 PM yeoman same with me, it is awesome. greg www.jdmracing.com inpreza kid 09-04-2001, 08:44 PM i'm using one with my jcsports intake because i'm too lazy to clean my other filter. i find it works just as good as a k&n and haven't has any problems with it. milkman 09-06-2001, 11:35 AM Alright have any of you take'n a good look at the filter maybe I got a bad one but there holes in were it's glued to top dome. the filter medium dosn't look like it will stop anything but rocks and there no gasket on the bottom of the heat shield and only 4 screws to hold it in place. I don't like dirt in my engine. inpreza kid 09-06-2001, 10:50 PM milkman, you have the airfilter with the heatshield right? sorry couldn't help you. i just got the one that looks like a K&N. i seen the heatshield one once before, looked fine to me. you should take it back to where you got it from and explain your problems. after all you can't expect that much out of ractive. GregBolby 09-06-2001, 11:47 PM ran a 15.3 tonight at 90.6 mph with a stromung dual tip backbox, and the ractive on the throttle body....best i could do a month ago with the stock intake and k&n panel filter was...15.8 i think that is worth it dont you? Greg www.jdmracing.com Ghomer1 09-28-2001, 02:56 PM Anyone else have opinions on this matter? I'd like to find out. Garret damianq 10-08-2001, 03:14 PM Ractive filter material (gauze & mesh) is from K&N. Construction is by someone else. Poppa smurf 10-09-2001, 08:40 PM Do you have to oil these like a K&N filter? I just bought one till i can buy the cobb. Peaty 10-09-2001, 08:51 PM I had one it worked fine for me. I used it for over a year with no problems and one cleaning. I replaced it with the stock box and a K&N Panel. I wasn't able to get it directly hooked up to cool air in the fender and I started to fear for my MAF. Although after over 18K it never did blow the MAF, better safe than sorry. Pics here: http://www.scoobymods.com/mods/impreza/customintake.php Current setup is at the bottom of the page. Peaty RallyImprezive 10-10-2001, 03:11 AM I got one recently, and then attended the Tombstone charity rally....so much dirt got past the filter , that the inside of the filter was CAKED with dirt. Confused, I took a close look at the filter...no holes, normal looking mesh. I hadn't oiled the filter yet, so I cleaned it really well, and oiled it...then did a bunch of hard dirt driving to simulate the rally. I checked the filter again, and there was NO new dust beyond the filter. Do NOT underestimate the importance of oiling the filter. -Andy Poppa smurf 10-10-2001, 11:52 PM I just but the Heat shield back on after I oiled the filter and had it aligned better with the hole in the fender well with the hopes of getting some fresh air and it seemed like it ran better before with out the heat shied. Since I have a MY99 I cannot do away with the intake plumbing entirely and I am making one form this thread (http://www.i-club.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=30768&perpage=25&pagenumber=1) . Does anybody else run it with no heat shield? |
