I've seen a couple variations of this. A pink one with an italic i and a blue one with a more stylized i as well as pink and black versions. What do these emblems mean exactly? I plan to get a black Impreza, 2.5i or WRX I'm not sure yet so I don't know if each emblem means something different. Wouldn't want to put the wrong one on. Bad enough to see a regular Lancer with an Evo badge.

There are two sizes, gc (small) and gd (big). I think the stylized one you speak of is of the second variety. I've heard both the "i" stands for "impreza" and for the i in "STi" but I don't know which is true. Pink emblems came on STi's from the factory in japan (although stars, not the i), I haven't looked at enough USDM's to know if they do too. IMHO when you put a pink thing on the front of your car you're saying it's an STi. Tons of people put other colors on (you can buy one and paint it yourself) so in the end its just an accent thing.

So has anyone tried putting one of these on? Is it easy to do?

I've never done it before but I'd guess badge installation ranks pretty close to tying your shoes as far as difficulty goes, unless you have velcro shoes.

to remove your existing OEM badge, just get a hairdryer and warm the sadge up especially around the edges. do this for a few mins (3 give or take) then gently using a flat headed screwdriver and prize it off.
clean where the badge was. then dry it.
The new badge warm that up, remove the slef adhesive paper bit and place on the grill location and push in.
A few people here in the UK, have kept the OEM one and just painted the back bit of the badge pink or silver or a blue. They find that doing this is a) cheaper and b) better quality.
Somewhere on SN there is a thread on how someone painted theirs with nail varnish:lol:

I just need to know if it will fit the 06's. I imagine Subaru would keep their front grill emblem the same size for every model. But if I can find the dimensions of the i and check to see if they match up.

Come out to the local meet on Tuesday...several STi's including mine have those badges and you can check dimensions.
Yup. Just use a hair dryer to heat up the old one, use a flathead screwdriver wrapped in a rag to pry the old one off, use Goof Off or Goo Gone to clean off the residue, and then stick the new one on while the plastic on the grille is still warm.
Here's my STi Pink one:
