How accurate is the 0-60MPH measurement of an Apexi Rev/Speed meter?
I got one to remove te jap spec governor on my 1999 JDM WRX Type RA engine and tonight, for the first time ever, I decided I'd give it a try. Reved the engine to about 4000RPMs by blipping the throttle a couple times (this seems to help build boost sooner) then quickly slipped the clutch. All 4 broke lose and the car went sideways a bit, then hooked up and took off. I hit 60 in 4.7something seconds according to the RSM, which, if anything, is a bit low given my setup. However with the wheel spin and the very low RPM launch, I am wondering how accurate it really is.
Details:
The run was performed at 32F. The car feels incredibly fast when its this cold. I believe the road was dry, though tire spin seemed way excessive for just a 4KRPM launch. It could be the new clutch though; this was the first time I've ever launched on it.
Setup (relevant bits, click link for full info): (http://www.power-labs.com/jdmsubaru.htm)
V5 WRX Type RA stock VF29 turbo
3" catless turboback
Ported and polished Throttle body, intake manifold, exhaust headers
Perrin turbo inlet hose
Apexi S-AFC2. AFRs set around 11:1 at WOT via wideband
Spec Stage 3 6 puck kevlar clutch
Lightweight flywheel
Stock RS transmission
Bald Kuhmo Ecsta MX tires.
The car weights in at 2980lbs fully loaded with me and 1/4tank of fuel inside.
Boost is at 20PSI with no boost controller of any type:

The run was done with 11 gallons of 93 and 2 gallons of 110leaded in the tank. The car must have weighted over 3000lbs with that much fuel.
I didn't bother with any more launches or any 1/4 mile passes because on the stock RS tranny that is asking for trouble.
