Well took my car out to commerce for the last weekend of the year.


Had been looking for 11's and finally got it, im sure there are better times, but was happy and stopped to finally relax.


2004 STi 20g/meth combo, tuned by Doug at TopSpeed :banana:

I think the car had a bit lower times in it, but was launching the car a bit conservatively (4000rpm)

Nice!! Commerce is the slower strip too! Try out SDR, it's usally a pretty fast track (lower elevation and well prepped). I dropped .5 sec and gained 3mph at SDR a week after I ran at Commerce.

how would you compare the 93+meth to your c-16 tune? same power levels?

The c-16 tune had spool issues due to the profec-b/wastegate, I never got a good feeling for it or got a good number time wise. On the dyno the meth tune has more trq less hp however, if I can ill try to scan a sheet.

congrats! those are great times. judging from the 1.8 60ft, you could work your way down to an 11.7 or better. TopSpeed ROCKS!!!

Glad you officially ended the debate about whether an STi equipped with a 20G turbo could run in the 11s

Our setups are very similar. With the pure meth runnin, I made 400whp and 410wtq on that dyno. What were your power figures on the TopSpeed dyno? Just trying to get an idea what my car could do at the track with proper driving since I STILL haven't gotten my lazy azz to the 1/4 mile track yet...

Full meth at the moment. No water mix, that may change in the future.
A few questions about the meth if you don't mind:

- What kind/brand?
- How much money for how many gallons?

Congratulations, nice time!!

That trap speed is very nice, it implies you can run much lower in the elevens if you are willing to make a hard launch and whack some time off that 60'.

nice numbers, I just ran at English town 12.3 @ 113mph with a 20G stock top mount and stock header 60 ft was 1.9

Nice to see what a car with almost exact same mods, tuner, and power figures can do with proper driving though. :cool:

Not sure if anything else was added in besides the meth, but just with the meth alone, that's at least 4 psi of boost difference when the meth is runnin. That's alot more power - even on a little 20G.

EDIT: not worth ruining this thread with a flame war.

That is from his sig. He was also having problems with his car-slipping clutch I think on the 111mph run(370whp). So he did meth inj.,clutch, and also got some ic pipes, exhaust components heat coated.
30whp for my car gave me a 5 mph increase in trapspeed.

Hey all :)

Normally my car would run between 111-114 on the previous tune on just straight 93 before the 12.310@111 the car ran 12.428@114.25, which is on scoobymile.org. The 111 trap was on a really good launch/60ft 1.69. The highest trap of the evening with the meth/20g combo actually was 121.29 last night on a 12.097@121.29

That slip was

60':1.939
330:5.330
1/8th:7.974
MPH:91.78
1000:10.226
1/4:12.097
MPH:121.29

That was an even lighter launch than the previous launch.

The car dynos now @ 417hp 466wtq.



Hopefully next showdown ill be ready mr. baked :)

Genya what kind of shifting were you doing. Were you going balls to the wall flat foot shifting, or somewhat taking your time. I am mainly concerned with your 4-5th shift.

On your tune, Doug might not have went that aggressive so he would be sure your block would last - not that Genya's is going to blow or anything, just might be a bit more on the edge than your tune. Only person that can answer this for certain is Doug...

Thats true Doug was having a problem with my car holding boost, at 23psi maxed out my original 15psi IWG actuator. It just seemed through out the tune (Meth map, and the just pump 93 map) hp was always higher than wtq. I was just woundering if that's a 20g thing, or a contributing mod?

Turbos that spool sooner vs later usually have higher wtq than whp.

Wtq will often be higher than whp on 20G tuned EJ257 due to the fact the torque comes on sooner and dips off sooner than a SZ49 tuned EJ257. Sooner wtq usually = sooner fall off. Your SZ49 just has the torque come on later in the power band so the the whp calculation will be higher, even if you make the exact same amount of torque than the 20G EJ257 (only in a different spot in the power band).

Another way to look at it, if you make the same amount of torque later in the power band vs early in the power band, your whp will be higher in the scenario which the torque was made later due to the formula for calculating HP...

HP = torque X RPM / 5252

On 23 psi + meth injection I made 400 whp & 410 wtq on the TopSpeed dyno...
