View Full Version : Fixed my Ver 2 Gauges....but new issues arise

So when i did my ver2 sti swap, for the harness i extended everything for left hand drive. I then converted to right hand drive before i finished the swap, but the harness had been done for a while. Once the car was started i discovered that the tach, temp, and fuel gauges were not working.

So, after a couple of weeks of no gauges i decided today to see about fixing the issue. The first thing i wanted to do was to remove all the extensions that I had soldered, shrinkwrapped, and loomed when i converted the harness for lhd. I just wanted one less thing to be an issue.

So I spent the rest of my daylight hours cuting, striping, resoldering, and reshrinkwrapping. I was putting the car back together and i had the idea to start checking fuses, which i had done before. I found two blown fuses this time though. One was the 15amp radio fuse, and the other was the 10amp srs meter fuse. I replaced them both with new fuses and finished puting the car back together.

Once the car was done I started it up and sure enough I had all my gauges working. Now the new issue is that now the battery light and the light up in the top with the ! in a circle, dont know i think airbag.

Any body know what would cause these lights to come on all of the sudden. I know that my battery and alternator are new so i dont see what the battery light is all about. And the other one if it is airbag, then maybe its on cause i dont have one.

Any help is appreciated.

I had that ! light also and it drove me nuts for a while. Its your ebrake light :). It must not be wired in to the switch.

Thanks Scoobie Steve that makes me feel a whole lot better. I know for a fact that i havent wired up the eBrake light, dont know why everything else is hooked up. Guess im just lazy.

Anybody know why the battery light would be on?

silvia,
you by chance know the wire location for just the fuel gauge? everything on my V2 swap works great but my fuel gauge. it worked before the swap was done and now nothing.......

its a brown with white wire it runs from the fuel pump assembly up to the right kick panel where the rear and bulk harness connect. (jdm wire br/w, my usdm wire br/y) The wire then runs up directly to the fuel gauge.

if you look at the back of your cluster you will see a screw that has "fu" written next to it. follow the copper contact trail and you will see the wire in the connector that corresponds to that.

but i just think the wire isnt hooked up at the bulk/rear harness interface.
hope this helps.

hey scoobie steve did you know that the ! light in the dash is not only the ebrake but it is also the brake fluid level warning light, i was just informed by sixpack subaru, thought you might like to know.

yeah, the (!) light is the ebrake and fluid level (notice it looks like 2 drum brake shoes like our ebrakes are), same function as the BRAKE light in US ones. ive heard of some lights meaning 2 things on some cars, so ill go look to see if the battery light may have anything to do with something else. (brothers ABS light comes on when there is no charging, wierd)

nothing, just charging system not working. id say check all your connections
