Ok here is the problem. First let me preface this by stating that this “situation” was originally posted in the car audio forum. That is because I noticed it while installing my alpine head unit and thought it could be related….and now I am just not sure.

So here is what’s happening. When I turn the key the farthest position before the car turns over I get this med-high pitched mechanical noise emanating from the area around where the intercooler is located. It’s a constant noise. Also I drove my car to work today and it seemed ok, but this situation has got me quite concerned…I mean my car is only a week old today!

Any help would be very appreciated…also if you need any more info to help diagnose please just ask…

Thanks
Chris

Wirelessly posted (Treo 600: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 95; PalmSource; Blazer 3.0) 16;160x160)

Is your interior fan on your HVAC turned on?

I'd pop the hood and listen from various positions around the engine bay to try to pin it down better.

I did just that and coulden't get an exact location.
Also in conjunction with the constant engine noise there is a fluid like noise that runs along the passanger side down near the gas tank.

PS. It's a 5 speed (of course ;) )

I think sometimes when we hear a noise, all the noises the car makes can be troublesome when they are really just noises the car makes running. Instead of stressing it, maybe bring it into a dealer and have them take a listen?

I think it's the TBW servo on the throttle body.

That servo makes a TON of noise.

Tweek!!!

I have the same noise. It is the TBW servo.

Hi pitched whine when you turn key to accessory position.

Wondering if the dealer would fix it. Never had it on 02 with cable.

Noise changes pitch and breaks up if you press on the servo with your finger.

Think i should bring it by the dealershiP? Is it a "bad" noise...or just something that the car does?

thanks so much

Chris

I would say it's normal. My car has done this since day one.
