Either pump the tires up, or, put in on blocks if it is going to sit a long time. 00Maddog 11-21-2005, 12:24 AM yeah also jacks post reminds me, make sure the intercooler spray tank is below the max line if it's going to be outside, so it doesn't freeze and break. maybe better to just drain it. WRXnFX 11-21-2005, 01:34 AM or add some alcohol or winterized winshield fluid to the sprayer tank. Are you storing the car or getting the car ready for winter? Winslow Peterk 11-21-2005, 06:07 AM If you're driving your car in the winter, is it better to park it outside or in a warm garage? xplcitcustmz 11-21-2005, 06:22 AM If you're driving your car in the winter, is it better to park it outside or in a warm garage? depends on what you drive.. a mazda or a subaru, subaru's like the warm garage better alaska jack 11-21-2005, 11:08 AM A nice warm place. AKSubie 11-21-2005, 02:10 PM If you're driving your car in the winter, is it better to park it outside or in a warm garage? I'd say parking inside ALWAYS outways outdoors for any car. No scraping, snow shoveling, etc.. But Subies do fine outside as well. As for winterizing.. I havent a clue. In a few years I may revisit the idea when I pick up a winter beater and leave The S at home. Peterk 11-21-2005, 06:21 PM depends on what you drive.. a mazda or a subaru, subaru's like the warm garage better What difference would the car make between mazda and subaru??? Is there any mechanical positives for leaving it outside rather than inside? I can only think of the condensation issue with bringing a cold car into a warm garage everyday but thats it. cooparu 11-21-2005, 06:46 PM Warm garage = warm start, warm oil, warm everything. No snow or ice to deal with. No need to blast the heater/defroster. Wake up and go. :) Cold outside = bad for engine on startup, worse emissions, more gas consumption needed for warm-up. Tire flat spots, ice crammed "up in there", cold cd's, peering through that small defrosted spot on the windshield. Frozen washer nozzles, stiff wipers. Added morning grumpiness, potential "whoopsie" onto ice on the way out to the car. Man, do I love the days I claim the garage. (Oops, I fell victim to the tangent) Mavrik 11-22-2005, 10:55 PM my car never sees the garage... the wife's fully loaded with all the heated seats, front and rear defrost, mirrors and what not gets the warm garage. Oh well... heh... my car is used to the cold... the window didn't crack like hers when she got a chip and then drove out of the garage, cold air, warm glass... watch the crack spread... It will get replaced in the spring. prometheum 11-23-2005, 06:49 AM hey guy i wanted to know, what is the best way to winterize your car? i filled up the tank full and added fuel stabilizer, but i wanted to know if i needed to do anything else. you only need to add fuel stabilizer to your gas if you plan on leaving it parked for an extended amount of time...is that what you're doing? silver_surfer 11-24-2005, 12:41 AM wow that was a lot of info. thanks. sorry i haven't responded but i have been busy. yeah i did add the fuel stabilizer because i am parking it. i would just buy studs, but why should i when i can park it and use an old beater truck i have. it saves me on insurance cause i got storage insurance now. thanks for all the info again. cj |
