View Full Version : Exact difference between APS R1 and R2 exhausts?

I'm curious to know the exact differences in these two exhausts from APS:

APSWRX-HOE/R1 - 3" Exhaust System - Single 4" Tip

APSWRX-HOE/R2 - 3"/2.5" Exhaust System - Single 4" Tip

I know the R2 has a 2.5" final piping diamter on the axleback section but I'm curious to know how the reduction in piping diamter is executed... Is there a taper in the center exhaust pipe (like the old turboxs style) or is there a taper in the axleback? Or is it just a straight 2.5" axleback bolted up to a straight 3" center exhaust pipe with no taper?

The pictures don't really tell the story and the info I received so far is not complete. Good pictures of the individual parts would be helpful... the pics on APS's website are relatively generic looking for the two exhausts.

Any help would be appreciated.

i have a 2.5 inch axelback, the one that looks like a regular muffler...the piping is 2.5 inches from the flange to the muffler...i just took it off, so i could take pictures if you need to see it.

that would be great. Do you know if the midpipe (or resonator section, whatever it's called) has a taper in it or is it the same as the full-3" version?

sorry i didn't get to take a picture of it...mine is only an axleback, so i am not sure of what the intermediate pipe looks like, but there isn't a taper in the axleback. i would have to guess that it is in the intermediate pipe.
