may not be the right forum but i was wondering what i should do. I plan on adding either an alky/water injection setup or a wet nitrous setup and i was wondering how it works with the tuning. as of right now i have an ecutek reflash and a lot of other aftermarket things but i want to add a little more power by adding some spray

my questions i guess are what will give the most power the safest (nitrous or an alky/water injection setup) and what kind of tuning will i need?
and i dont plan on using it but very seldom and if nitrous is added it would only be a 50shot

thanks to all who answer

Don't BS yourself... That's what they all say, myself included. IF you tune for either, they are both safe; Although the alchy would be safer than the N2O.

If I were in your shoes, I would go with alcohol injection.

Have to agree there is more benefit with Alcho then Nitrous anyday....

i was leaning more towards that anyway and it is also a lot cheaper and there are less rules about that than nitrous

more potential benefit?

no way.

try picking up 100 hp with alchy.

yeah, but alchy is 'on' all the time (as in, sprays whenever you need it) as opposed to nitrous. I don't even know how one tunes for something that you only use when you press a button.

c'mon now... you're splitting hairs here.

don't you think the ADI has to have a trigger point below which it is not on?

and don't you think this is exactly the same as a trigger point below which nitrous is not on?

it would take a matter of minutes to rig up the trigger for a tps or map based nitrous setup, just as it takes minutes to rig up the same trigger for an ADI setup. do you really think the GOOD nitrous setups literally only have a pushbutton to go on the gas?

now, is a water/alchy based ADI setup cheaper? sure... but it most certainly does NOT have the power increase potential of a nitrous setup.

well hey yall i am not looking for a whole lot of horsepower just maybe like 50-75 whp horsepower when ever i need it but i def dont wanna blow nothing so would alky injection be the best for that, if so which kit is better to be used?

50-75 will be a very tough amount of power to be added from an ADI (ie, water/alchy) setup/map.

most of the time it's more like 30-40, max.

the limiting factor in most setups is in the air/oxygen side, so it boils down to the turbo and/or intake tract, really. you need to get oxygen into the engine, give it the fuel, and light it off. although alchy contains oxygen atoms, it also contains hydrogen and carbon which will consume those atoms during combustion. the ADI cools the intake charge which will make it more dense, so you'll get more air in, and it also allows you to run higher boost, which will also get more air in, but it's not NEARLY as efficient at adding oxygen as squirting nitrous. similar to the ADI, the nitrous also helps to cool and condense the charge.

your best, safest, most foolproof way of bolting on 50-75 hp is to upgrade turbos and just deal with the increased lag. this is assuming you're already tuned. on the other hand if your sti has an sr55 on it you're going to have to go BIG, and your bottom end is starting to get outclassed.

dude i wanna add a little more power for when someone gets cocky to make sure i dont lose i dont want a all out race car im looking to spend a grand, maybe, on some nitrous or a whole lot less for alky NOT get ANOTHER turbo i already have one that i just bought and it isnt going to be changed for awhile now i am considering the s3l shortblock or some new internals for my motor and of course a clutch but nothing else as of now
