Does anyone know what max whp can be extracted using the stock STI axelback on an EJ25?

I'm trying to figure out if it's my STI tmic or my axelback that is holding me back. I peaked at 260whp around 5500rpm. The good thing is that I have 320wtq around 3200. This is with a ported VF22.

The tq and hp numbers should be closer together, right?

What are you talking about axelback? The tranny? I ran 350 Whp on my STI with stock everything. Hell come to think of it I am now running 425 Whp still on stock drivetrain :)

I think he meant exhaust!

There is no specific # as many people have put down big power on OEM exhausts. To say that @ XXXWHP retriction occurs would just be a guess, but I know that 300WHP is common and if you were going over that, it would be a restriction. How much? No one can really say. Nice downlow TQ numbers for a "laggy" VF-22 though. :) Must be fun as hell to drive!

Then would you say it's my tmic that's keeping my whp low?

My tuner says he starts to get det around 16psi. He also suspects the stock turbo inlet - suggests to get a samco. But, if you're saying that stock STI setup can get 350whp, then that leaves me clueless. Or, is that stock STI with bigger turbo? In any case, I gotta find that restriction - help...

Yeah - it's a blast til 4K, but gets boring after that...

If you're tuning on the dyno, just drop the axleback. Then you'll know for sure. That big of discrepancy would tell me it's an exhaust flow problem.

Since the vf22 is only a bit larger than the vf39, you should be able to compare your numbers with a stock STI that's been dyno tuned.

What dyno?

Thought he meant drivetrain :) 350 Whp was with stock turbo and headers, TBE, COBB AP and tune.....
