I though you might be interested in this since I haven’t seen an AVO turbocharger dyno plot for some time. This was tuned by me on Dynamic Autosports Mustang Dyno in California on California 91 octane pump fuel.

Overall l like this setup as it has a very efficient .84 exhaust housing and you can see it wanted to make more top end power but we were limited with ignition timing due to the low octane fuel. For a Mustang Dyno and California 91 these are very good numbers.

This was still using an internal WG but boost was stable up to around 20 psi. On the dyno the turbocharger was on the “laggy” side hitting 20 psi around 4700 rpm but tuning on the road had data logs showing 20 psi by 3900 rpm.

It would be interesting to see what this setup is capable of on race fuel.

Thanks,
Phil

Nice numbers Phil!

Nice Phil.

I'd be curious to know what type of vehicle this was on and what the weight and HP@50MPH numbers were as that affects the load on the vehicle and the spool up time of the turbo. Also any weather correction factors involved?

Tim,

Unfortunately that information is not printed on the dyno sheet I have. From what I remember they selected "Subaru Impreza" for the settings which had a weight around 3100 lbs and I tuned the car in 4th gear. The car is an 04 STI. As for weather, it was a typical 65 degree day in Southern California.

The differences in spoolup seem somewhat extreme in this car but it's pretty normal for spoolup to decrease a couple hundred rpm in the real world.

Thanks,
Phil

IMO, the weight for a STI or WRX without weight reduction should be around 3500-3600lb in the software. That is the weight of the vehicle with one or two people in the car. That should load the car down more appropriately to what it sees on the street and provide a little better spool up.

What do stock STi plots look like on this dyno?

I was told 210 hp on this dyno +/- 5 hp.
