**EDIT** NOW INCLUDES DYNO SHEETS

Alright I"m up in the AZ for Thanksgiving and I thought I would swing by KIngpin for a tune. First off nothing but great guys. Mike, Dave, Clark all took care of me. There kingpin rear wheel drive sti with the precision turbo "papa gushi's" drift car for this year" is so sick words can not explain. Not to mention I got a free shirt.

Then I drove over to Arizona Dyno Chip where they have a dyno jet, this is where Clark works his magic. For some background information on this dyno, a stock sti runs 220awhp and I have a Crawford S2 block, pe850s, pe1820, ecutek, utec, and wrapped syms equal length headers and all supporting mods.

So Clark did a base run on my last tune and pulled a whopping
266 awhp out of it on this dyno jet dyno. Then he went to work and quickly got it to 306awhp on the 91 tune! Thats 40 more horsies at the wheels on 91 octane, and at 4000rpms got me over 50hp an torque more than the last tune.

Then he tuned me on 100 octane and gave me 40 more haha!!!! Crazyness up in here. Thanks again Kingpin you have now shown me how a cars supposed to run. Now I just need to back it up at the track.

congrats dude.. Kingpin is teh shiznit! They're a bunch of cool guys that are there to help.. and they dont keep anything back if they know something to help you out, they'll tell you even if they could have charged you for it.

They're there to help and not necessarily to make money off of everything they do.

+1 for Kingpin Performance

Congrats on some great numbers. You are lucky, over on the east coast we don't get the pleasure of having Clark that often.

It was great to finally meet you in person. Glad the car turned out so well. I know Clark wasn't feeling to well but he really came thru. Big ups to him on that. Look forward to hearing from you again soon. Thanks again for the kind words.

Glad you like the Tune. I have data logs of the baseline pulls with the other shops tune and logs of my ECutek tune as well as Utec tune. At some spots you gained 50-60ft lbs. Lol.

that's a very thanksgiving thing to do,clark.
Mike, don' t forget your car was tuned in the summer. the weather is a lil cooler now,so that can be a major factor in your gains.

I am curious to hear who tuned your car before Clark? I bet I have a good guess. You are in the socal area right? If it is who i think it is, I had the same problem as you "a crappy tune." I also gain 40whp after I changed tuners.

why not post who it is so all can benefit from the info? However if you are not wanting to do that, it is understandable.

Congrats on the numbers as well.

We strapped the car to the dyno and I did three pulls on the previous tune on pump gas. Nothing was changed. The previous tune shows stock AVCS cam timing, low ignition timing and a lean AFR. I made HUGE power gains in every area of the curve running about the same boost, a richer AFR and my tune was not knocking. What got me is that the baseline tune from the other tuner was supposed to have made 320whp on that dyno. On this dyno it made 266whp. I knew that dyno read alot higher. Just was not prepared for that much difference. Anyways. The car was a joy to tune and Mike made alot of power with a safer knock free tune. I first flashed the ECU with my map, Fine tuned the Fuel trims, fine tuned the AFR curve, Fine tuned the timing map and ended up around 290whp and 300ft lbs. The previous tune was 266whp and 247trq. This is a real safe tune with about 16 psi. I then used the Utec to further tune the car on 91 octane to 306whp and a something like 312trq. The main difference here was a bit more boost on the utec map. Then the race fuel tune was done and I pulled out 339whp and around 340trq from memory. Boost was a low and safe 20 peak with 19 at redline. We stopped here. The 1820 refused to make more top end. There was more trq to be made but I decided to leave it smooth and safe. Thats about all the 1820 has on this dyno. A Green does about 360whp on this dyno so I was pretty impressed with the 1820 this time around.

It was the older version pe1820 with upgraded wastegate.

But Bo, it might be the winter, but its hotter in Phoenix right now, than it was in san diego that day. I believe it was high 70s in Oceanside that day. So that is not a factor.

Clark, is that 360 with the Green on pump or race gas? If it's pump what race gas numbers do you typically see and vice versa if 360 is on race gas.

I have seen a couple near 300WHP STis with stock VF39s with TBE and tuned on 93 octane. What would these show on your low reading dyno?

Clark, do you ever get to GA-North FL? Would love to get a tune I could trust. Have you done any VF39's with WI? With just WI and shorty DP I've heard of guys making 310-330 whp. Does this sound realistic?

Sorry guys. The charts where at work and I was off for the week.

Here is the car on 91 octane fuel. The car rolled in. I did a baseline pull on the Brand X ECU. Pretty lean. Stock cam map, Lots of boost, Very little timing. Adds up to low power and low trq. A stock car makes 220-240 on this dyno. The knock correction was low showing the car was knocking. The boost map was not stable as well.

The higher plot is the map I tuned. I ran a richer AFR and made more power. Peak boost was about 16 psi. The goal of this map was safe 91 octane power for every day use. Knock correction was full max in the logs after 3 hot back to back pulls.

Note. AFR plot is actualy 500 rpm to the left as the Dyno jet uses an air pump system for the Probe with a long hose. I use an in car WB.

http://www.kingpinperformance.com/main/images/mike-sd-ecutek-hp.jpg

Here is the trq plot. You think he felt the difference in the middle? Lol

http://www.kingpinperformance.com/main/images/mike-sd-ecutek.jpg

Next I tuned a Utec on top of the ecutek so he could have map switching. He already had the utec so we figured might as well use it.

Plots:

Brand X Ecutek Flash 91 octane
My Ecutek map for 91 octane
Utec tune for max power on 91 octane
Utec tune for max power on 110 octane

This way he can drive the car on the flash, Go to Utec map for a bit more power on 91 or add in race fuel for even more power.
