Will the 2.0 ej heads swap over to the ej 1.8 block?

Reason asking is that I have a bad 2.0 turbo and a good 1.8. I know its going to raise compression, but for now I just want my car to drive.

What issues to you think I might see?

what makes you think that would raise compression?

The 1.8 is an N/A and the 2.0 is turbo. I would immagine the 1.8 has hi compression pistons?

oh yeah, thats true. You can do this if you want, nobody would really recommend it becuase the 1.8 isnt exactly a highly regarded motor. You shouldnt have any issues, it will all bolt up like anything else.

It wont work unless you get custom pistons for the 1.8.

Yes, I have personally fitted 2.0T heads to the 1.8 block and have pics:

why not? do the pistons stick out of the block a bit? A thick cometic head gasket woulc cure that.

keep in mind that its not just the height of the pistons, but the heads' combustion chamber volume.

are you saying that it won't run or that you shoudn't boost it?

you can probably get a usa 2.0 ej205 bottom end from a local guy for $100 or so if u look hard, might as well do it once with decent parts - sell your 1.8, and youll be close to even

you shoud find yourself a 22t block, they can be had complete for ~500 and it will get you through until you have some extra money for something else. check out www.car-part.com they come in 90-94 Legacy Turbos

22t is good, just have to get lucky to not need a rebuild. lota peopel have 205's for DIRT when they dump it for a 257. wahtever is the better deal i guess-

The slots on the pistons for the valves are smaller on the 1.8 pistons, the valves will hit the piston.

Ya, I would just find a 2.0 block. I sold one awhile back for like $150 cause it was sitting my storage shed way too long... You can find 'em for cheap from people doing EJ257 shortblock swaps.
