once you start modding, should you still get your scheduled services at the dealership(ex. oil c hange, etc) or should you take your car somewhere else? will they make a note of your downpipe or em even if you are just there for an oil change.....i really like their work/services quality.

it varys from dealer to dealer. depends on what their attitude is about mods, and how they do their services. feel them out and see how they are about mods. most of the time its the service writer that is the anal one about mods, where as the techs get a kick out of them (especially power mods). since techs test drive the car before/after to verify the complaint/fix.

At my dealership it's quite different. I'm at Ford. I'm the advisor, and generally I dont give a crap about the mods on a car. If it has springs and the customer's complaint is the window doesnt work, who cares.
But if they complain of a suspension noise they are SOL.
My tech's hate working on modded cars. Generally the parts dont fit very well and/or are installed poorly and/or get in the way.

We dont really have problems at my dealership.
Although we did have one kid, intake, exhaust, header, coil plug wires...Came in with a flashing check engine light. He screwed up the coil/wire install, caused all kinds of misfire problems. Drove it that way for a bit.
He was mad at me when I told him his CAT wasnt covered under warranty.

it would depend on the parts/mods. in the case of subby mods most are clean cut and fit right. cant really mess up a dp or catback or ap. but i know what you mean about bad mods. ive had to work on a couple of caddys that have been modded and some are a pain (ie underbody neons (cant lift car), remote starters, alarms with fuel cuts)

I have an up,dp,k&ntyphoon plus suspension mods....i've always had my service, specially oil change done at the dealer. the service department BTW, sells allout mods from A to Z. maybe they'll be cool.

They may document that you have the mods...they may not. Either way...if you have a problem that's related to a modified component of your car later on...it's not covered under warranty now anyway...so what does it matter?
