I have a 95 L (1.8) and am planning out a ej257 install. If I acquired a 97-98 DOHC heads being that my car's ecu is mapped for a SOHC engine... even if it is compatible to have my sensors plug in the new engine to work with the DOHC heads and my e-manage working will it make any difference with the map or is it just a physical difference of 2 cams vs 4 with the sensors working basically the same way?

Also can someone confirm that it is plug and play for my 1.8 cam and crank sensors to physically plug into the 97-98 DOHC heads without any physical modifications?

subaru uses all the same sensors SOHC and DOHC. i hope you dont get owned to bad on $$$$ by your shop..... good luck!

the sensor pickup method is the same on the sohc and dohc- i hope for you the best, but most likely you'll be reporting on needing a complete turbo wiring harness and ecu - lemme know when u do, ive got a spare.

why not use the SOHC ej25 heads? they are waay good. probably easier to have than the DOHC, and just as good minus the bragging rights of having 4 cams. or get a real EJ20 JDM pair of heads with 264 cam duration...

since u have a OBD 1 car, why be saddled with the e-manage, you dont need to pass the obd pluggy anyways-
