Well, that's not really true.. money talks and you can get better wheels. I would go with volks because they are forged though! Weatherby 11-28-2005, 08:47 PM Volks are cool and all, but I don't think they look as good on a car like the WRX as they do on, say, a 350Z or Skyline, or even a Supra. Especially the GT-C which requires you to go REAL wide to get the right look, they just look bad on a WRX (in my personal opinion). SO, having been down this road myself I'll just post what I went with. :) http://www.geocities.com/weatherby43/Silver_2002_WRX_RC2s-02.jpg and a close up: http://www.geocities.com/weatherby43/Silver_2002_WRX_RC2s-01.jpg I got them from Adam at Z1 last spring. He had this set in stock at the time, otherwise it would have taken months to order a set of silver RC-II or RG's, so I guess that also influenced my decision... But primarily I rather like the 'TopSecret' gold & silver look, it's not as bad as it sounds at first because the wheels aren't as GOLD as gold makes them sound.... (Ie: they're not 24K plated spinners). Course, now I see that Advan no longer makes the mighty RG, it's been replaced by the RG-II which is slightly different looking (no blue ring around the lip, but has a raised ADVAN RACING badge now). Anyway, what it came down to for me was not which wheel I preferred in general so much as which wheel looked right sized properly for a WRX (17x7.5x48mm). I could have gone 17x8x43(I think don't remember atm) but decided to stay 7.5. As it turned out my AVS-Sports are 235-40-17 and on the Advan rims end up adding about 2 inches of width at each corner. (from 6.5" to ~8.5" with tire width on the ground, that might be off slightly, I haven't had a chance to put a ruler under one to verify for sure, but it's not off by much if at all.) BUT, having said all that, it comes down to what my decision came down to: your PERSONAL preference! Choose the wheel YOU like the best, not the one your pals like best.. After all, it's your checkbook and YOUR car those wheels will be used on. :) Good luck, and let us know what you decide! |
