View Full Version : Hit and run
Haakon 11-27-2005, 02:26 AM I know this seems to happen a lot in this state, but some cowardly f*** of a driver smashed my GF's car while it was parked on the side of the road. :furious: I'd love to find this SOB and stand on their neck.
So, any suggestions on a good auto-body repair place? Its a '96 Impreza 4dr. I know there is a thread for someone parting out a same year impreza, but that car was rolled and it would seem the pieces that my GF would need are already spoken for or bought. The damage is on the front left corner of the car. It is almost like somone across the street was trying to back out over the new snow and must have rammed the snow in order to get out and the momentum carried the idiot into my GF's car. It was probably a larger vehicle since the bumper on my GF's Impreza doesn't seem to have any damage, which would seem to imply the bumper of the violating vehicle is higher than my GF's Impreza. The impact area seems to be right at the left-front corner of the hood area. So the headlight is pointing a bit more outwardly than it should be and the side-marker is smashed as well as that corner of the hood and quarter panel. Lights still seem to work, though.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
fc6666 11-27-2005, 02:31 AM that sucks... someone hit my rear bumper a couple of weeks ago when it first started snowing
akic vigilante hit and run crew anyone?
xplcitcustmz 11-27-2005, 02:36 AM any color of paint on the hit and runs, i had someone back into my 1989 accord before i moved up here and i noticed a bunch of black paint that had scraped off the vehicle that did it to me, i filed a police report and all that junk, but nothing happened, like 3 weeks later my friend called me up, and set he was parked next to a black van that had green paint on the rear of it, turns out he was the culpret and we settled for 1900.00 out of court, funny thing is, i only paid 500 for the car
whoaslowdown 11-27-2005, 04:04 AM yea sorry to here that man I remember when I got hit and run it sucked... waited 3-4 months for it to be fixed..and knowing the fact you got nothing to drive sucks even more. And now it's going back to the shop on monday since the drivers door is misaligned and half of the car is not even clearcoated
Spitfyre02 11-27-2005, 05:54 AM Yeah it seem to happen ALOT up here, I got hit on the passenger side pretty bad right after I got up here and Recon got hit pretty bad in the Fred Meyers parking lot.

WRXnFX 11-27-2005, 01:06 PM Used subaru parts are hard to find in this town. I'm about to use ER auto body for the 95 impreza L. He's pretty reasonable and willing to work with you on the price. I'm doing some of the tedious work and gettinf a hell of a deal.

When my GF first showed me the damage, the paint left from the other vehicle was the first thing I looked for. All I found was the paint peeling from the impact area that belongs to my GF's Impreza. :( Believe me, I am watching the vehicles across the street like a hawk, waiting to see which bumper has fresh scratch/dirt removal marks. I bet the jerk is laying low and parking somewhere else if he lives across the street, I know I would in his shoes. It is one thing to leave a minor dent, but quite another to leave the damaged vehicle impaired.
After all this, I am either thinking of surveillance equipment or a two-way alarm for her car. I am leaning on the surveillance because that is a 24/7 catch-all versus only the times one is home. We carpool so her car doesn't get driven much and damage potential somewhere else is slim. I do this suveillance, and the next MFer that tries this crap is going to get caught and police report filed along with the proof. Isn't a hit and run a misdemeanor? If that is the case, I'd love to slap that on the offender's record. :D

Thanks, man, I will check them out. I got a list of autobody repair places now and we will have to do a comparison on which is the better deal. It doesn't have to be a pristine job (the car is 10 years old), but the repairs should put the vehicle back in normal operating range and look "normal" from the outside.

turbokill 11-27-2005, 06:45 PM My LGT was hit last night in the parking garage across from The Shed on 3rd. The corner of my rear bumper is pushed in about the size of a softball.
Waiting for the car to thaw out before I can see if the culprit left any paint.
I think people are out to get Suby's, this is friggin' ridiculous.

Yep, sounds like the attack of the chrome truck bumper...be vigilant--don't sleep!
Hope it all works out. If I could get 50 bucks for each door ding I have, I'd be rich. Only got $100 for the one I caught.

No paint marks that I see on your car there Evan, what ever hit your car took the paint off your bumper and cracked the platic a little but thats all. Oh and your missing your engine cover. :D
