Well everyone since there's not an official thread I'm going to start it.

Be sure to include:
-Your Location
-Amount of Snowfall
-What winter tires you've used and why you like or dislike them.
-What winter tires you have and why you like or dislike them.

I'm in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and we got a lot of snow last year (probably close to 1m). I work in the parts dept at a high-end car dealer in Toronto and we sell lots of winter tires for SUV's and Sports Cars.

Last year I was using Toyo Observe's (I don't recall which model) on my 91 Jetta and they did an excellent job of sticking to the snow. Under normal driving they handeled very well.
I bought them from my tire distributor for $100 for the set (they were only used 1 winter), which was an excellent deal.

Right now on my 02 WRX I'm using YOKO AVS Winters and they're an ok tire. They don't give me the grip that I would like in the slush but I get average traction in most snowy situations. I've never had a car with over 150hp and AWD so I'm not exactly sure what to expect from winter tires. These tires were a free-bee from the previous owner of my car.

I wish I had Gilsaved Nord Frost 3's on my WRX. I got a set of these for my GF's 02 Civic and she loved them. They get a lot of snow (1-2m) of snow in her area (Barrie, Ontario) and these tires stick to snow.
I got a set of Gilsaveds for my cousin who drives a Toyota Hilander and she absoutly loves them. She's an average driver (with a toddler) and she said that driving in the snow didn't feel much different than the dry pavement.
I also got a set for my friend this week, he has a 2000 GTI VR6 and he called me two days ago to tell me that he can't believe how well these tires stick to snow, he was more than impressed.
The Gilsaved Nord Frost 3's are not an expensive tire but I'm sure they can be harder to find. They are also studded.

Do you mean these Dayton Winterforce (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/BigPic.jsp?tireMake=Winterforce&tireModel=M%2BS&sidewall=Blackwall) tires, made by Bridgestone/Firestone?

I just got 2 sets of them, one for each of my Outbacks. Haven't seen any real snow yet, just put them on Wednesday. Light snow Wednesday night, but no real accumulation. Hopefully, they'll do as good as the look like they should.
