Not sure if any of you follow the MWIC, but Tim from PDX is from Indiana and came home for Thanksgiving. While he was here, he setup a tuning day in Louisville, KY.

Now I've been talking with the PDX guys for a while and they have been awesome to work with and they've helped me out with some questions/problems I've had. I recently got their mail-in flash for my car because I'm tired of trying to tune with the UTEC. But this still didn't work. So I decided to make the drive to the dyno day and have Tim take a look at my tune and car. We made a pass and AFR's were where they have been...right around 12:1. So Tim and I did a little looking around at some different things and didn't come up with anything major. Then we pulled the MAF out and it was pretty dirty. So Tim cleaned it and dropped it back in and did another pull.....11:1!!! So I was happy to know my car wasn't fubar'd. Tim did some minor adjusting and here are the final numbers.

Mods:
Perrin Intake
Perrin Turbo Inlet Hose
TurboXS FMIC
De-butterflied TGV's
CP Pistons
ARP Headstuds
Balanced rotating assembly
Godspeed Downpipe
HKS Carbon-Ti Catback
ECUTek tune by Tim @ PDX
Boost spikes to about 19-20psi, tapering to 14-15 at redline

The printer at AutoMotion wasn't working, so I had them download the data to a text file which I opened in Excel and graphed for your viewing pleasure. This is a Mustang Dyno. I know the numbers seem a little high for stock turbo compared to what I've seen. But 'PRODRIVEN' got his STI tuned with turboback and intake and he made about 270WHP/305WTQ. So I don't think the dyno reads that high. Also weather correction for my numbers was .975

that's some nice torque at 3k rpm there. excellent.

Torque curve looks nice and fat. It's always nice to have your problem work out to be something small and easily fixable.

is that on a vf-39?

yep, VF-39

tim, you really need to get a bigger turbo...lol

it would compliment your other mods much better and a FMIC may be much for the VF39. Oh and try some C16, it should make things "more" fun.

Glad everything worked out for you in the end!

Justin

Oh, and what were your IDCs like? I would assume you will need bigger injectors soon.

Here is the one graph I got. This was one of the last pulls after car was heatsoaked, so it isn't the highest pull. The highest numbers were 326tq and ~270whp. I need to get that graph from Automotion. After that pull the power slowly went down to ~300/265 each time

any special reason for the fancy pistons? or are you slowly building up the car?

I was bored one day.

Just kidding. I ran a boost controller @ 17psi and a short ram intake for about 20,000 miles and blew up the #4 piston. Now I have no money to upgrade to a bigger turbo and I don't feel like putting myself in even more debt right now. Once the credit card is paid off in a couple months, then I'll start saving money for a bigger turbo.

I wonder what your A/F was like with that set-up?

Slorice was using a blitz intake that makes the MAF sensor read significantly less air that is actually entering the motor. As a result mixtures are lean and ignition timing is objectionably high... A great combination for broken ring lands... thus his motor rebuild.

I really enjoyed the dyno day in louisville. Brian at autmotion deserves some real thanks here for working late on a saturday to get all the tunes done. Furthermore, Christian from COBB tuning was a great help in sorting out some very rare accessport issues. Great support all around.

We'll have to plan another session for the spring. :D

Best regards

I wanted to throw in a big thumbs up for Tim and PDX. A great guy for sure. The road tune he gave my car totally rocks. So much more power and drivablity.

Thanks again Tim!
