I'm doing a jdm sti v8 swap soon into my 2003 wrx . And I wanted to use a new turbo and swap it in right when I swap my v8 motor in . The vf37 twinscroll seems cool . But I'm at a vf34 right now on my WRX motor and I heard that they're similar . So I rather move onto the next step . I was thinking either vf22 or super 16g but that is like a small step . What would be the next step ? I know that with the jdm v8 , if I want to switch turbo , I would also have to change the up pipe and exhaust manifold . So I am aware of that . Oh, the purpose of this car is a daily driver , never to the track type . But I want it to haul ass on the highway . With my vf34 , on the highway , its straight poop . But keep in mind I don't want no crazy big turbo . Something that would be a good match for the jdm v8 sti swap .

Are you planning on doing EM? If not, you might want to stick with the stocker that the v8 ECU is mapped for.

Oh yea . Of course I'm going to do engine management . Right now , I have ecutek and I love it . And my first EM was cobb accessport . But I didn't like it . Ecutek is like 3 times better than cobb . And with the jdm ecu , I plan on using ecutek .

18G is a nice medium sized turbo.

Yea 18g is nice . I'm just thinking if its too big for a 2.0 ? Isn't there a tdoh-5 and tdoh-6 ?

I would drive around on that VF37 first before you go planning any turbo swaps. I know def liked his and it made pretty good power at stock levels. He managed a 12.01 1/4mile with his VF36, same as the 37 only with roller bearings.

there is a total of 3 correct answers to this question

A: pe1825
b: zerosports twinscroll trubo
c: send turbo to deadbolt and make a pe1825 clone for ~500

i choose c

Alright, what about a 16G then?

I think the PE stuff is overpriced for the power you get.

A twinscroll 1825 clone would rock though. Good power with a little more topend. Just enough to make the highway a little more fun while not compromising your bottom end too much.

Damn holy s**t . I just got off the phone with mike at kingpin . Damn , for the gt30r kit , which by the way is so tempting , 350-400hp on pump gas . Oh I wonder how that feels . But I totally forgot about injectors, fuel rail and utec with the gt30r kit owould total up another $5k . So $10k total for jdm v8 swap woth gt30r . Is there any other bolt on turbo I could get ? What is the next closest thing to a gt30r without buying a kit .

these turbos give the biggest, fattest, powerband. See here:

those turbo's make the engine look like they need some displacement, higher compression or antilag

sz49 would get my vote but then again I'm not looking for a drag-race/all top end set up ;)

anyone have a dynochart for a 2 liter with GT30R?

Hmm , its seems like a toss up now between the green and sz49 . But it seems that u have to run 23psi for the green when u can run the sz49 at 21-22psi to achieve the same boost . I'm looking to get 330whp with a jdm v8 and RA gears . Out of the 2 turbos , which would get me there first with the lower psi . And what's the risk of running 23-25psi daily ? And also, could I do an internal gate instead of doing external ? It seems complicating. Could anyone explain to me ?

Wonder how the deadbolt PE1825 clone compares?

I have been wanting to try a super 16g, with a tdo6, and external gate on an Ej207. I think it would be an awesome street turbo..

The 30r would be nice, you could modify your injectors for free, you already have a front mount so you are pretty much set for that turbo kit. Depending on your power goals, would depend on weather i would choose the 3071, or 3076.

I would most definetly sell off the twinscroll parts, and get a different turbo configuration.

Yea . I was reading up about the pe1820 clone . The turbo that is more comparable with the pe1820 is the 18g . And both turbos are around the 300-310 whp range . I was kinda looking for the next step up . Which I would believe is 20g , green , sz49 and avo450 . But out of these 4 I think I would prefer either green or sz49 . But I'm going to call up jerry at deadbolt to hear some details about the 18g , 20g and sz49 .

I say bolt on a green and be happy. Either that or just use the twinscroll reworked from deadbolt. Nice turbo with really good response

Billy if you want to sell all the twin scroll stuff let me know...hell I'm even local =)

With that said some of those cars in those charts are making sick power
