Search the conversions forum. All questions have been answered.

But really- WHY?

Just get a used '02 WRX and sell your RS, it won't cost as much and you'll have a factory correct car instead of something spliced together. If you were doing an '01 or earlier I'd say go for it, but an '02 just isn't worth it.

i somewhat agree there. swapping to a 2.0L wrx motor doesn't seem like it would be the most effective use of your money and time. unless you are getting a hella deal on the motor. if you wanna do a motor swap get a jdm sti motor.

+1 For a bad idea just get a WRX, cheaper and easier in the long run.

cheers

screw that, do the swap, you will come out way ahead, plus it will be faster than a WRX. the wiring is a pain, but doable.

PM bankheist, he did it and may give you the details on cost and stuff

Erm, how is a car with EXACTLY THE SAME BODY, FRAME, AND CHASSIS as the WRX is going to be faster than a WRX with the exact same engine?

If this was a 2001 or earlier it would be lighter and better looking, but its the exact same car without a hood scoop.

Waste of money IMHO. And wrong forum too...

Yeah, maybe the gearing is better. Thats about all I can think of. Would be easier to just get a new RA gearset and a WRX.

Don’t waste your time and money. You’ll spend more performing the swap and still end up with an inferior car to a wrx. It’s not just the motor either, although you have a sweet final drive in the NA platform, your tranny and shafts are different and not as strong. You can sell your RS and buy a used WRX for less then you would spend swapping and have a much more reliable platform to build from.

Exactly what I would have said but you beat me to it.

Sell the RS and get a WRX.

for that car, I would just do an entire WRX swap, dash, complete harness etc...make it plug and play...that or sell it and get an 02 WRX...
just my $0.02

I was considering doing this too, but am now deciding between a jdm ej20k or just waiting a few years so i can buy a new wrx/sti
