All questions have been answered. But really- WHY? Just get a used '02 WRX and sell your RS, it won't cost as much and you'll have a factory correct car instead of something spliced together. If you were doing an '01 or earlier I'd say go for it, but an '02 just isn't worth it. TucsonWRX 11-30-2005, 12:10 AM i somewhat agree there. swapping to a 2.0L wrx motor doesn't seem like it would be the most effective use of your money and time. unless you are getting a hella deal on the motor. if you wanna do a motor swap get a jdm sti motor. poormansporsche 11-30-2005, 12:44 AM +1 For a bad idea just get a WRX, cheaper and easier in the long run. cheers garrett Wheeler Bement 11-30-2005, 12:58 AM screw that, do the swap, you will come out way ahead, plus it will be faster than a WRX. the wiring is a pain, but doable. PM bankheist, he did it and may give you the details on cost and stuff spooln407 11-30-2005, 01:00 AM i agree w/ tucson...get a jdm v7 sti motor powerlabs 11-30-2005, 01:17 AM screw that, do the swap, you will come out way ahead, plus it will be faster than a WRX. the wiring is a pain, but doable. PM bankheist, he did it and may give you the details on cost and stuff Erm, how is a car with EXACTLY THE SAME BODY, FRAME, AND CHASSIS as the WRX is going to be faster than a WRX with the exact same engine? If this was a 2001 or earlier it would be lighter and better looking, but its the exact same car without a hood scoop. Waste of money IMHO. And wrong forum too... poormansporsche 11-30-2005, 03:16 AM Yeah, maybe the gearing is better. Thats about all I can think of. Would be easier to just get a new RA gearset and a WRX. cheers garrett tymans 11-30-2005, 03:51 AM its only worthwhile to throw in the JDM Sti motor v7 + drivetrain i have been looking int o this also, it would be a great project xcntrk75 11-30-2005, 08:27 AM Don’t waste your time and money. You’ll spend more performing the swap and still end up with an inferior car to a wrx. It’s not just the motor either, although you have a sweet final drive in the NA platform, your tranny and shafts are different and not as strong. You can sell your RS and buy a used WRX for less then you would spend swapping and have a much more reliable platform to build from. powerlabs 11-30-2005, 11:29 AM Don’t waste your time and money. Homemade WRX 11-30-2005, 11:48 PM for that car, I would just do an entire WRX swap, dash, complete harness etc...make it plug and play...that or sell it and get an 02 WRX... just my $0.02 MidnightBlackPearl 12-01-2005, 01:54 PM I was considering doing this too, but am now deciding between a jdm ej20k or just waiting a few years so i can buy a new wrx/sti Wheeler Bement 12-05-2005, 12:41 AM Erm, how is a car with EXACTLY THE SAME BODY, FRAME, AND CHASSIS as the WRX is going to be faster than a WRX with the exact same engine?
