The "Electric Slide ":D
(Great fun trying to wear down those RE92s...oops, a bit of negativity, but I turned it around.)

Being the fastest car on the track after it stops raining at Watkins Glen.
Not very often I get to pass Corvettes and Porsches on the track.

I gotta agree with Steve-oWRX, my favorite thing about the WRX has gotta be the hood scoop. There is just something about being able to see it while driving around.

Seriously the other great thing about the WRX is the ability to drive in all weather conditions. It wouldn't hurt to use traction tires in some places, but here in the Portland area we just don't have much of a winter.

I'VE GOT ONE :D :D :D

The hood scoop swallowing the road :)

Walking up to your WRX from the front and appreciating it's panther like shape, ready to pounce :)

Handling, performace, and the ability to go airborn! :D Stealth effectivness in traffic, and knowing I don't HAVE to race everyone with a mellon shooting exhaust to prove anything.

DEFINATELY... listening to her with the radio off!

ALSO, i pass a middle school on the way to work every day and there are kids everywhere. i actually forgot about this game i used to play when i was a kid, we'd point to cars and say, "thats my car!!" well, im starting to see the same kids walking to school, and sometimes i stop at a red light right in front. with the windows down i can hear them fighting over who is gonna claim my Rex as their car  i love it!

westy, we used to play the same game except we shortened it to "Mine!" I may have to start playing that game again.... :)

As to the WRX, I love the scoop cause it is always there to remind you that you've got extra stuff under the hood. I really like the body of the car. It took a little while after seeing the first spy shots, but after looking at the car more the lines really work. Most of all, I love the AWD.

Filling my car with passengers, driving down the road, then, suddenly, turning off the music and cutting a hard turn into a dirt lot, cranking the wheel against the locks in 1st gear, going into a controlled spin with all four wheels spewing gravel, dirt, and rocks as the tires scrabble madly for a grip as the turbo whines loudly through the newly opened intake, popping off of the throttle to take advantage of that hard throttle-lift oversteer, bringing the car into an even tighter spin, then gassing it back up in first, sending all four wheels spinning once again, then suddenly snapping to attention as they grip the loose ground, and the car's nose rides up like the nose of an F-14 on takeoff and the car takes off like it's strapped to a steam catapult... then pulling back onto the road, turning the music back on, and pretending that none of it ever happened.

Then, seeing the little plastic endcaps on the grip-handles over the door have popped loose from their clips because everyone in the car was hanging on for dear life.

And the smiles on everyone's faces when we get back on the pavement.

:D

OMG! That's the funniest thing I've ever read! I know exactly what you mean about those plastic endcaps on the "oh $hit" handles.

hmmm...beyond the "whoosh" when the boost is on, those wonderful comfy and supporting seats, the awd, the cool hood scoop, the fact that it can do all that while being a wagon! people in the US, including me, aren't too used to superwagons being around. :D

Stealth is one of the best parts of owning a WRX wagon. I enjoy keeping the RPM's 2.5 to 3k knowing that at any time with a single motion I can dust most cars on the road. All the while I'm hidden in what apears to the common masses to be a simple import wagon.
I also get a charge when my 10 year old wants to be driven to school in the fast car rather than Mom's Forester.

The price! A superb rally-inspired, sport sedan/wagon which is affordable for a working stiff like me is absolutely wonderful! Thank you, SoA for bringing this baby to our shores!

Gotta agree with OnTheGas, especially since I haven't taken delivery of mine yet.
So far the best thing about it is the price, with the IMBA discount. What a pleasant surprise to find that not only was the WRX at dealer invoice price, but so were all the options!
Woohooo!
Thanks IMBA and Subaru!!:D :D :D

The price/performance ratio, for sure. Unbeatable on the US market as far as I can tell.

Scoop rules, too. Love the view of it from behind the wheel.

And it's a WAGON! Or, as I call it, the ultimate SPORT utility vehicle.

ACK! Keep your hands on the wheel!! :)

My favorite part is the turbo spool, the blow off, insane corners, hood scoop, fender flares, drifting corners and doing 90+ on gravel. :D

I LOVE THIS CAR!!!!

The price, the performance, the looks (wagon), the seats, the CD changer, the fact that my girlfriend loves it, my son's friends thinks it's very cool, it putts around town and from job to job, its stealth (sometimes I don't like this when my ego would like a stroke for having such a cool car), the way it drives through the twisties, the way it purrs along the freeway, the compass/dimming rearview mirror, accelerating uphill...

Well, I'm living in Grantham for another week until I move into my new apartment in Goffstown, but those lots are all down in MA. :) In Franklin, MA, on Rt. 140, go to the Liquor World plaza, and back in the corner, behind Hollywood Video, and look at the tire tracks. They .. er .. just *might* match a set of RE92's... :D

My wife thinks my WRX looks a little wierd from the front, but its growing on her. She tells me she likes the interior a lot, especially the center cup holder.

Personally, while I think the center cup holder is okay, I prefer not to drink and drive (anything) in a WRX; you're likely to spill it.

So far as my likes are concerned, I love the sound of the engine, the color of the car (Blue), the hoodscoop, the seats (front), and the thrill of its performance, and the fact that my kids tell anyone (that's everyone) that their Dad has the coolest car around. My daughter (11) says the acceleration feels like the Superman ride at Six Flags; I think the roller-coaster pulls a few more Gs than my WRX, but I'll take it as a compliment anyway.

I love the rush of the turbo charger as it spools up in 3rd gear between 3000 - 3750 RPM!!! Then the sudden blast of acceleration as you crest peak torque at 4000 RPM!!! There's nothing like it!!!

My friend who doesn't like anything wears his Muppets ear-to-ear "Ernie" grin when I slam WOT from standstill!!!

If I had to pick one thing, I love the way it looks. I say it's the best looking car out there, but probably because it has all the right stuff performance wise. If it had a crappy engine or horrible handling I'd probably wouldn't think it looked so great anymore.

When I found out more about the WRX and realized what a perfect car it was for me, the more beautiful it became. It's like when you love someone, compared to anyone else, that person is the most beautiful person in the world.

For me, it's the overall package. Great power, AWD, comfortable, and an awesome everyday driver.

For my wife, well.. When I first got it she said that it looks like some r1ceboy put a hood-scoop and a spoiler on a Dodge Neon (her exact words). I locked her in the trunk to test the inside trunk release after that one. Then it became "You know, those looks are really starting to grow on me.". Now she is making up errands just to ride in it. She's been hinting more and more about teaching her how to drive stick.. Uh oh.. Looks like we are gonna have to rent a car with a manual soon. ;)

I love gripping the fat MoMo steering wheel, peering out over the bulging hood scoop - and knowing that my little red wagon is one of the stealthiest badaxx cars on the road! What a thrill it is to drive this wonderful little sleeper.

it's hard to capture such beauty into words.... the feeling from this car matches no other....
KhaOS put it so well, i don't think i can match it,
but just had to be a part of this thread; the vibe i got from reading all these posts just makes me even prouder that i have the privilege of driving a wrx.
thanks guys n girls,

The versatility.

Where else can you get a car that is faster than 99.9% of the cars on the road, will safely deliver you through some snow to go skiing, and can swallow either 5 passengers or a good ammount of stuff? It's almost like 2 cars in one.

...that, and the driver's-side "Oh-****!" handle, definitely.

... provide a list rather than singling out just ONE thing:

The fender flares
The hood scoop
The unusual appearance that grows and grows on you
The fact this car doesn't look like ANYTHING else
The mind-boggling speed and performance (coming from a guy whose previous car was an '87 Camry 5-spd!)
The security I feel at all times, but especially in bad weather
The Subaru community (we're like a CULT!)

'nuff said.

serously.... darrelltx brings up a good point:

some people complain about the looks, and sometimes i wish it had some better looks, but the more i look at it, the more i like it.

a car that APPRECIATES in aesthetic appearance!
most cars start to look old and not so appealing as when u first bought it, depreciating in thir appeal and fad looks, but the wrx just grows on you, and keeps looking better and better....
what a deal!

Thanks, mak! The most common complain I hear is about the large, "bug-eyed" headlights. If they are really that much of a problem, then all it takes to remedy the situation is some $500 for Morettes. Problem solved and you have one kick-@$$ car that will make virtually any drive fun!

First, I've never looked forward to driving in rain and snow before! Second, the other Subie FANATICS I run into - other Subaru owners wave when they see you! It's like being in a club. Flamemeisters not withstanding.

Since I have been 6 years ols I have been obssesd with cars. Once I turned 16 I felt finally free. I drove like a f-ing maniac, I got 27 point on my license by the time I was 18. I have always wanted "the car". And now I have a great job that has allowed me the pleasure of driving a ca that cannot be compared to and I finally feel content.

The best thing about the car - I think I just said it, I am perfectly content when I am in the WRX.;)

Bad Dogg, IMBA is the International Mountain Biking Ass'n. I'm an avid mountainbiker (and my poor Corrado has been on more dirt roads than 90% of all SUVs:lol: ).

Subaru is a fantastic corporate sponsor of IMBA, and one of the membership deals is anyone who has been a member of IMBA (all of $20-$40/year, I forget) can buy any Subaru at dealer invoice cost.:D

One thing about the lights that no one seems to mention is, is that yes they look neonish when the lights are off, but when you turn them on, especially at dusk or at night, the top part of the oval is cut off (for the turn indicators) and that makes the lights look.....just...plain....mean. I LOVE looking at those lights in a reflection.
