I've used both. It all depends on what your criteria are for the end result.

If what you want is shine, the Zaino is hands down better than anything I used from Meguiars. I used it on a black car and the result is amazing enough that people come up and ask what the heck made it shine like that. I'm not sure the shine advantage would be as obvious on a lighter colored car.

If what you want is protection, I don't know if there's much of an advantage to one over the other. It's wax vs polymers.

If what you want is ease of use, I think Zaino might be easier (after the initial process anyway), but not by a huge degree. It just seems like it takes less rubbing to polish off the haze after it dries.

i've never used meguirs but you should really try zaino. the stuff is awesome. its been rainy and wet here lately and usually my little black subie looks like crap anytime its wet, but i put on some zaino last weekend and it still looks great. the shine is incredible and it really protects.

Don't forget about the Klasse line of products. They work amazing and last 6-10 months. The shine is deep and hides swirl marks very well.

The "All in One" followed by "High Gloss Sealant Glaze" gives great results.

I used Meguiars Gold Class (clear-coat prep and then wax) on my previous car for 5 years, and have just switched to Zaino for my new WRX.

I have to agree that Zaino is easier to apply. At the very least, you don't have to remove the Z1 before applying the Z2, and Z1 is only needed once ever 6 months or so. With the Meguiars clear-coat prep, I was effectively waxing twice. (You can also go with the Meguiars 1-2-3 products to clean, polish, and then wax, but that is even more work!)

Since my car is already shiny silver, I can't tell if the Zaino is producing a better shine. Other people with dark cars (esp black) claim that Zaino is wonderful for shine.

As for protection, it is too early to tell. My first impression is that water beads better with Zaino, but water beading is only one form of protection. I emailed Sal Zaino asking about protection, and he assured me that his products will protect better than wax. But that may be just salesmanship. :)

Just a clarification: Zaino is called a polish, but contains no abrasives, and provides protection, so I think of it as a wax in function.

Zaino is available via mail order only, go to their website to print an order form. I recieved my order within a week of mailing the form.

I like the Klasse. It is not a wax but an acrylic finish and it really lasts a long time. Check it out at:

I just switched to Zaino. It is a polymer, like Klasse. Klasse all in one has abrasives, and the Sealent Glaze does not. A lot of Klasse users put something called Blitz wax on top of the Klasse, for better shine I think. The Zaino has no abrasives, so you should clay or polish your car before applying it, as well as wash with Dawn to remove all the old wax. I have used Meguiars, among others, and find their professional line is great, and the consumer line is pretty good.

I like the Zaino since it shines the same or better than regular wax but lasts longer. I have less and less time these days to take care of my car so that is important.

However, nothing is wrong with wax - it shines well and offers good protection. If you like waxing regularly, and like the look of wax - go for it. My car is parked outside under an oak tree - sap in the spring/summer, acorn shells and squirrel poo in the fall, so I wanted something more durable. On my black car I found wax made it look like 'liquid metal' where the zaino makes it look like there is a fresh coat of super shiny glass over the paint. Hard to describe, but there is a slightly different look to each.

As for ease of application, I think Zaino is easier. I use almost no pressure what so ever on the cotton terry towel to remove the excess. Just lightly run if over the car and presto, great shine.

Have fun whatever you use. Most quality products will make you happy, I am sticking with Zaino for now - it makes me happy. In the end, it is the skill in the application that will make your car look good, not the product.

Just wanted to comment on the shininess of Zaino on silver cars. It looks good during the day, but the bright ambient light from the sky drowns out all the deep and subtle reflections from the polish on the paint. It doesn't look any better from a distance than normal wax, although when you get up close you can tell it's something special (it looks very slick, and in fact feels incredibly smooth to the touch).

However, at twilight, dark overcast days, or night, there is simply no comparison. The silver car with Zaino literally glows and looks just as good as dark colored cars. I just love looking at my car at night in a parking lot filled with street lights. Every curve of the car is covered with beautiful highlights and reflections, it's difficult to describe how good it looks. It will certainly get a lot of attention at night and put to shame any car using normal wax.

I've used several waxes even the expensive zymol(concours) but nothing compares to the ease of use that Zaino provides. And Zaino STICKS to the paint. When I had my wing painted and installed, the owner of the bodyshop asked me what type of polish i used. He said he's never seen anything like it in fact it even made the solvents he use bead. Zaino's the way to go. You'll see.:D :D :D
