I've heard piecemeal discussions re heated seats as an option for the WRX..Is this available only in Canada, & is there any liklihood it will appear in the States? Kinda curious. Thanks, Rick

I don't realy understand why Subaru chose not to even offer heated seats as an option in the US. There are places in the US that get much colder than some places in Canada. I'm not sure, but are you guys missing the heated mirrors too?

Has anyone checked to see if your wiring harness has the connectors for the seats and switches?

I'd imagine the heated seats will become availiable to you guys right around the same time they give the WRX a sunroof (possibly 03')

no heated mirrors or seats in the US. From what I remember reading in past posts, the canadian version stickered for around the same price! And those items are stock. But the cars were selling for way over sticker (Several months ago)

There was a previous thread about wiring for the seats. I think they said the wiring harness was there but the elements were a project in itself.

I thought the new WRX couldnt get a sunroof because of the build of the chassis.
You americans(excluding alaska) litterally dont know what cold is until you encounter a Saskatchewan winter. I mean it. it gets as cold as texas is hot. Just think of how cold it is. My ayelashes get frozen when I go out durring winter.

It gets to -40 celcius.(can someone change that to F for me?)
It also get super hot in Saskatchewan. it can get to +35 celcius.

-40C=-40F
35C=95F

I live in PA and we'll see 95F in the summer and maybe -15F in the winter......How cold is a rats a$$ in -40C temperatures?? !!!

-40 degrees C = -40 degrees F
Ironic but true...

+35 degrees C = +95 degrees F

Now you know

I just called Rive-Sud Subaru outside of Montreal and asked if i could buy a heated seat. The parts guy quoted me $214.70 Canadian for the entire seat with wiring harness. At the current rate of exchange that's $280 USD for a complete pair of seats.
If the guy and I were understanding each other correctly, that's not such a bad deal, particularly since us New Englanders can drive up there in about 5 hours.

If there are any Subaru Canada people lurking out there, please confirm.

The heated seats would be nice, but what I would really like to see are the heated outside mirrors (also included w/ the seat package). Here in the misty northwest I always have poor visibility in the morning due to the fogged up mirrors and the wimpy rear defroster. :(

as my name implies, i'm a canadian boy (calgary) living in texas.
and you don't need cold weather to appreciate heated seats. any morning, or especially after a workout.....
if it was offered it would be a no brainer.

If they'll ship that to the states I'd definately buy it - any contact info from them?

Thanks

$140 USD for a PAIR of fully heated (all wiring, etc.) seats???

That sounds way too good to be true. It'd be awesome, but I've seen just a pair of the WRX bucket seats for more than that. If $140 USD is true, that place could have a serious business of sending us Americans heated WRX seats!!

I have looked at my '99 RS a bit, and it has a fuse for the heated seat option in the dash fuse panel. Now, the American '01 Forester S comes with the heated seats and mirrors, so I was going to try and buy the heating element from the forester seats either from a junk yard or new. I find it hard to believe that price above (the $200+ or the lower one) is correct for an entire seat. You can probably take the seats apart and install the heating element, and I would think that price above is for that only, and the swithes and harness from the seats to under the dash.

I have not looked into it yet though. Next time I am at the dealer I'll see if I can get a picture of the Forester seat peices.

I don't have the number anymore. Go to www.subarucanada.com and do a dealer search for Montreal. The dealer is called Rive-Sud Subaru. the number is listed. They speak mostly French, but their English is OK. Sorry about the conversion. I used $.65 USD per C$. the $214 Canadian was for ONE seat. A pair using cantex's figures would be $280. Don't have a clue about shipping.

oh ya, windchill. espceically since There are no protective hills/mountains/valleys around, we get the wind good. 2minutes outside without ear protection and you can say hello to a good 3 weeks of pain.
