I found 3 gas stations in my area that have Cam2 110 octane for 3.50 a gallon. Can you run this in your car with out doing any damage? Its leaded so its not for on road use:D should you mix it with some 94?

For leaded, simply remove your cat(s) when running it. $3.50 is CHEAP for that kind of octane. Hell, there are places here (Union 76's) that sell 108 unleaded race gas for $4 or so a gallon, but there's only 1 or 2 in San Diego county. A relatively stock car won't show any kind of performance increase unless it's got sky-high compression and really advanced timing. More than likely, it'll feel kind of 'flat'. The 110 will really help prevent any chance of detonation. But, I have run my DSM (Laser with Big16G) on 116 octane before...and the car had a hi-flow cat AND stock o2 sensors. Will these parts be happy with the leaded 110+ gas? Absolutely not. Will it ruin them immediately? Absolutely not. I ran my Laser several times at Atco, with several gallons of 116. The o2 sensor had 120K miles on it, and worked fine all the time (I know, since I had a digital A/F meter hooked to it...part of my gauges). And my hi-flow cat did not plug up immediately. As long as you don't run this fuel all the time, and run unleaded most of the time, you should be fine (I state SHOULD, never say always or never). If you don't trust me, talk to any DSM guys that race 1/4...they have been running high leaded fuel for years. That would lessen the damage to your O2 sensors/cats. Poppa smurf 09-07-2001, 02:20 PM I really wasn’t referring to running 110 with out mixing it maybe 2 gallons to 10 plus its just for the day before I go to the track giving it time to get mixed. The track charges 4.50 a gallon for it so I thought I would be better of just mixing it myself. In the Rex with 18PSI boost, and all its other goodies the cam2 of 114 oct. at $4.50gal ...made a nice difference i thought, so did the people driving behind the car! No one seems to understand the rules of the road, both written and unwritten. And I thought I drove a little 'offensively' in New York. I'm surprised I haven't been arrested for doing some of the things I do in traffic around here in order to get the hell away from these morons and get to where I'm trying to go. I must be one of the few people in this country who actually read the chapter in the book that said 'cruise in the right lane, pass in the left lane'. And that's only one of the many gripes I have. Driving isn't hard, people. It's amazing how many drivers just don't get how 'it' works. makka 09-09-2001, 12:24 PM hey - san diego drivers are the same way.... they drive horizontally.... one row across all four lanes of the freeway. i just don't get it sometimes.... and usually the slow lane will open up first, and for some reason it has become the fast lane. digital_boy - where are the stations that carry the high octane gas? i need to find some.... and they're unleaded rite? thanks, mak |
