I was browsing around their websites and noticed the 3 year-only warranty. Because many other car manufacturers offer 4 year warrantys, it got me thinking if Subaru cars are that reliable or unreliable(noting the paint issue) for them to do that? And is this the possible reason why many Subaru owners only keep their cars for 2+ years?
Your feedback would be helpful, thanks. :disco:

Subaru has two separate types of warranty. Their basic warranty, which COVERS THE ENTIRE VEHICLE, (brakes, bulbs, wipers, wear and tear items) is 3 years or 36,000 miles. Then they have a powertrain warranty for 5 years, 60,000 miles that covers major engine, transmission and drivetrain.
Other manufacturers, like the one you mentioned above, only have that warranty and that's it. It covers engine, transmission, etc. They don't have a separate warranty. Usually, their wear and tear items are only covered for 12/12.
Also, the main reason why SOME Subaru customers only keep their vehicle for 2-3 years is because they want to upgrade or family situations change. Most Subaru owners have their cars for many, many years, and put over 100,000 miles on them or more. Subaru is well known for it's repeat buyers.
P.S. where did this information come from

Yep, I plan on replacing my '02 in 10-15 years (maybe sooner if they bring back the cool bugeye look). Of course, I might "have" to buy a 2nd Subaru in the meantime.

someguyzero - what are you currently driving? Or are you shopping? Seems that your initial post are pushing you away from Subaru. If you are shopping what other brands are you thinking about? That may help with feedback.
My Dad recently purchased a Chevy Avalanche. .....3/36 warranty (period).
Subaru offers a decent warranty.
