My check engine light will not go off, and my fuel guage will only go up to 1/4 tank when full. We had it put on a analyzer, the tech said something about a line leaking on some gas return to some charcoal to be run into the engine to be burnt again. It is a 2.2 99 impreza. Unfortunately i need to get it to clear so I can IM it. I just bought the car off a guy, he never drove it, any suggestions. I have never heard of such a deal. Said there might be a leak in the line??

what was the exact code? p0XXX or p1XXX...as for the gas gauge reading wrong...prbably the fuel level sending units...

could it be gas cap not clicked around enough?
just disconnect the neg on the battery, turn on lights put back on cable, should have no cel.
or pull the bulb out :D

You'll never know what code was set if you do this. And if there is a problem the CEL will come back on.........now back to square one.

hey ..sense the the way the wrx works with everything is different from how im used to hondas.. i have my up-pipe and than gunna order a downpipe soon and i know the check-engine light comes on(because of the cats being removed and the sensors detecting it)..is their a way becides buying that part from like gruppe-s..like someway someone can erase the code or watever? cause it'll just be annoying seeing it .. and i want to increase my wrx's power to higher levels.. thanks

you can use the cel fix, or if you have a cobb ap, you can pull/clear the codes, or the txs utec will disable your cel (not recommended; I've had mine disabled for awhile now, and ever since i enabled it again, i've noticed that my cyl 4 is misfiring, but i have no clue as to how long it has been doing this.).
I have the simple resistor fix for my uppipe, and i never saw a cel from it. As for my catless down/mid pipes, they gave a cel and I think it would be better to use the cel fix at the actual sensor versus masking the cel light (or removing the bulb!!! :rolleyes: ).

does anyone have a cobb access port that could erase it for me? id pay them some money once the parts come in.. my upipe should be here (helix) in a couple days now.. so want to put it on ... plus im considering puttin on my HKS variable Valve controller..

"HKS Variable Valve Controller"=boost controller, right? If so, you might want to consider getting a fuel controller too, as well as some gauges (boost and EGT atleast), so the car won't run too lean.

ya fancier name for it pretty much.. ya i know i need the gauges.. hoping to get them for christmas gifts ...and AVO boost gauge that comes with the mount.. is one of them.. but ya gunna install the boost controller soon so the turbo can be puttin out a little more.. but i have the exhaust parts coming in but dont want the light on..so if sum1 can erase it for me thatd be great..

If its anything like mine, approximately 40 miles or so after resetting the CEL, it will come back on again. It's a very temporary fix.
