View Full Version : Joined the Subaru family, just not an Impreza
kkozma 09-07-2001, 01:06 PM After a complete mightmare at the Subaru dealership I was going to buy my outback sport at, I ended up buying a Legacy GT Wagon. I LOVE this car.

I was wondering if there's any kind of website devoted to Legacy's? If not, I'm sure I can learn alot about my new car here since alot of it is the same. I made a few assumptions about the car. Am I correct in my thinking that all of the bolt ons available for the Impreza will work on my Legacy??
Any websites or information I can gather on this sucker would be appreciated! Its hard learning about a completely different brand of car, this is the first non VW I have owned in 10 years! :)
*edit* How come my sig doesn't show up????
JGard 09-07-2001, 01:11 PM welcome. but first, the sigs are disabled on this board.
second, most things for the impreza 2.5rs (MY99-01) are compatable with your car.
I have to say, I love your car too :D if the legacy turbo comes back over here, I will get one. granted the car is a little heavy, but a major suspension upgrade, and who cares :)
good luck with her :)
scoobagenie 09-07-2001, 01:45 PM congrats and that's a sweet looking wagon! :)
before buying my wrx, i also test drove a gt and spent some time thinking about how to choose between the two as well.
Martin Ritchie 09-07-2001, 02:23 PM What a gorgeous wagon. I pass a 2000 black Legacy GT Wagon on my way to work everyday and really think it looks great. Yours looks even better. My wife has 1995 Legacy wagon. Check out the Legacy Forum here (including the archives). Lots of valuable information and tips. ;)
AScooby25rs 09-07-2001, 03:19 PM Wow, that is a beautiful wagon.. You had a nightmare at your Subaru dealership too?? I had the same problem, what's with that?? I thought about a Legacy GT wagon before I got my RS, but I couldn't quite justify the extra cost for something I didn't need... Besides, the girlfriend hates wagons, I never would have heard the end of it.. I occasionaly kick myself, especially when I see one like that.. Oh well. After my dad drove my RS, he went out and bought mom an Outback, that's the first non-Ford she's ever had ...well anyhow, welcome to the family!!

DOH!!! *slaps forehead* :o
I never scrolled down far enough to even see the Legacy forum... DOH!
Anyways, thanks for the compliments. My wife and I are really enjoying the car. Its also the first AWD car I've ever owned. We were originally going to buy an Outback Sport, but that fell through and we weren't treated with any respect so we went to another dealer who was absolutely wonderful, Wagner Subaru in Fairborn, Ohio... Very cool guys to deal with and the owner drives a pretty slick yellow WRX. They gave us a more than fair trade ($6000) price on my Wife's 1996 Jetta which was great considering the other dealer insulted me with their trade offer, if you could call it that, on my 2000 GTI VR6 ($14,000). I realize you never get what your car is worth for a trade, but 14k for a car that would sell for 19k is rediculous!!!! The good dealer was ready to give me $16,8 but I ended up selling it for $17,5. :D
I'm looking forward to absorbing as much info about this car as I possibly can.
Mookiestink 09-07-2001, 08:56 PM Wow! That is gorgeous. It's a great looking wagon on it's own, but the black REALLY drives it home.
mtnfreak 09-07-2001, 10:11 PM Looks great! I love the color. Would have gotten one myself except my wifey wanted something a tad faster.
Necromancer 09-08-2001, 02:24 AM Congrats! I was driving next to a black GT wagon the other day and gave the driver a big smile and thumbs up. He looked at me like, "What the hell? You wanna hitchhike??"
:D
Legacy owners are definitely welcome here too -- they're 90% the same as Imprezas anyway, only with better interiors. :)
subysouth 09-08-2001, 07:54 PM That is my dream car (sans a couple of turbos.) Youre gonna find even tho this is the i-club that there are quite a few Legacy owners here and a lot of help to be had. You made the right choice with that car-SWEEEEEEEEET!
whtstr 09-08-2001, 08:15 PM all subarus are goooooooood!
i love the forrester when i first went to the dealer...
after driving the WRX, i can imagine how excited you r.
how is that AWD??:D :D :D
Siper2 09-08-2001, 09:22 PM VeryVERYveryVERY nice! I ALMOST got a GT instead of my RS, but I liked the engine power in a smaller car. *shrug*
Otherwise I think the Legacy's the sweeter deal, if you ask me. :)

remarcable 09-08-2001, 09:28 PM Yeah, come visit us Legacy owners! Just scroll down the forums list a bit!
subymamma 09-09-2001, 12:06 AM Now all ya need is some nice, black tint! I have the black OBS and the tint on a black car just looks baaaaaad....
Really nice car, man. My son bought a white 2000 Legacy sedan with the spoiler and people sometimes think it's a Lexus or BMW or some hot luxury car... he he he...
MattJP 09-09-2001, 07:05 PM Very, very nice! I was just looking at a black one like yours and a silver one, too!! My next car may very well be the GT wagon...hopefully with the 6 cyl or turbo.
BTW, my very first car was the old family wagon, a '69 Ford Country Squire with big 390 V8, so I've always held a spot for wagons in me!
Good luck and welcome!
nice color/looks great. check out the legacy forum/ welcome
