Ive been having issues with my car's charging system it seems. Started up two weeks ago. First it was just the battery died outta no where when I went to best buy, ran fine there came out and it died. Got it jumped got to work no problems for a couple days. Later on it starts acting funny, be driving and the temp guage would be real low and the dash lights would be really dim. ABS light might come on and the speedo and tach would flip out and die and og back to normal or die again. Car would die a lot too, or rather just not start the next day. Didnt have time to play with it thought it might be battery and swapepd it for good measure, but same issue, checked the voltage out and at idle it read only 11.7 average, at 2500rpm only about 11.5-11.9.
Do you think its straight up an altenator issue, or maybe grounded? My dumbass forgot to check resistance when i was at the parents house so i dont know about grounding. Beyond that last night comming home my car got progressively weaker and weaker, had to hit the highway all lights/electrical subsystems off and it died and coasted the last 10 meteres to my apartment. Wont start today obviously, any thoughts? Its starting to f- me over cause im late or missing work (like today) cause of it.

Things to consider, a bad alt at 44k miles? I know its possible but doesnt seem to make sense ive never put the altenator under heavy electrical load

Lose belts? The accessory/alt belt was squealing a lot for a while there and gave a faint burning rubber smell, but it checking it and tightening it a bit didnt make a difference and then the problem went away :\

hey brian checking the grounds wouldn't hurt but it sounds to me that you alt is on its last few toes. you can always take it out run it down to the battery shop and have the test it, but it really sound like its about had it. let me know if you need a lift anywere?

well if your alternator is putting out a low charge to the battery, certain systems will not get the required juice to remain functional. example being your ABS. Its not getting the power it needs so it shuts off and turns on the ABS light. If your belt is loose/making that squealing sound a while ago, you could have worn out the belt or burned up the alternator. I'm betting bad alternator and hopefully it hasn't killed your battery. 44k on an 02? not common but not uncommon either.

thanks for screwing me on this brian, especially after i gave you fuel rails, engine wire harness, FREE electrical diag, & installed your shortblock for a mere $200. too bad some people bite the hand that feeds them, or in your lowly case, give me a bad check for an alternator, then a month later say the alternator was bad. funny you didn't mention it sooner. diaf ahole

Answer your phone or check your voice mail bud, i tried calling you the day it was going right into SIAS for an alt and got your answering machine with no reply from my message, and talked to your wife who said you'd call me back, and offered to do whatever just said to let me know. your altenator is sitting in my room in the same not working condition i got it in.

i have voice mail through acs, they don't miss anything. you knew i had more then one alt. logic says you would have tried to exchange it. you put it on your car, and are trying to return your bad one to me, i'm not an idiot brian. they both look alike. my account went overdraft from your check, that's b.s.

regardless of the situation, you should have resolved the bad check. to bad you don't live in montana, they put you in prision for that. seriously.

also my wife didn't talk to you until two weeks ago while i was out of town. sale was way before that.
