Ive been having issues with my car's charging system it seems. Started up two weeks ago. First it was just the battery died outta no where when I went to best buy, ran fine there came out and it died. Got it jumped got to work no problems for a couple days. Later on it starts acting funny, be driving and the temp guage would be real low and the dash lights would be really dim. ABS light might come on and the speedo and tach would flip out and die and og back to normal or die again. Car would die a lot too, or rather just not start the next day. Didnt have time to play with it thought it might be battery and swapepd it for good measure, but same issue, checked the voltage out and at idle it read only 11.7 average, at 2500rpm only about 11.5-11.9.
Do you think its straight up an altenator issue, or maybe grounded? My dumbass forgot to check resistance when i was at the parents house so i dont know about grounding. Beyond that last night comming home my car got progressively weaker and weaker, had to hit the highway all lights/electrical subsystems off and it died and coasted the last 10 meteres to my apartment. Wont start today obviously, any thoughts? Its starting to f- me over cause im late or missing work (like today) cause of it.
Things to consider, a bad alt at 44k miles? I know its possible but doesnt seem to make sense ive never put the altenator under heavy electrical load
Lose belts? The accessory/alt belt was squealing a lot for a while there and gave a faint burning rubber smell, but it checking it and tightening it a bit didnt make a difference and then the problem went away :\
God hates me? I know I hate me, i cant get my **** straight cause im dealing with this f-er all the time now.
