I was looking into the Cobb stage 1 and 2 kits, the 1 is just the eco and accessport? if i was reading correctly... and the stage 2 is stage 1 with a turboback exhaust? This true? Im very confused about all this cobb stage stuff but alot of people have it and say it kicks butt so id really like to know more about it, What it comes with and what exacally it does cause there website really didnt help any.

First you buy a Cobb Accessport. With it you can flash 'Stage 1' on an otherwise stock car (or one with minor mods like uppipe or intercooler hoses)

If you replace the OEM downpipe with an aftermarket one (Cobb or otherwise) then, using your Accessport you can flash the 'Stage 2' map to your car. You don't need the full TBE to flash stage 2, although Cobb does recommend it for optimal results.

Now, Cobb does make the best DP out there, but you can use any manufacturer as long as you it gets rid of the cat right behind the turbo.

I've got stage 2 with just a Cobb catted DP and the stock catback and it's amazing compared to stock. I am replacing the OEM axleback (muffler) with a stock muffler from an 04 STi. I'd go all Cobb but it's a little loud for my tastes.

So: Stage 1 = Better ECU map for stock/barely modded cars (260 HP according to Cobb)
Stage 2 = Better ECU map only usable once OEM Downpipe replaced (280 HP According to Cobb)

The stage 1 and 2 and other maps (like economy) are stored inside the Accessport where you can load them into your car.

That should answer your question.

If you just buy the AP you can use it right away for small gains.... Get a turboback and put a new map in (stg2) for even more power, like stated above.
when you get your turboback for stage 2, get an uppipe at the same time
If you look at the maps on the cobb site you can see what is needed for each stage and what general power you will be making...
