View Full Version : ABS light after Defi BF gauge install - Help!

So I installed the Defi BF boost gauge and control unit on Saturday. The install was easy enough but when I finished and started the car, my ABS light was on. The light stays on the entire time the car is running. I checked every fuse in the car, and they are all good (after being surprised that there was no blown ABS fuse...i'll get to that later).

If you're not familiar with the Defi control unit, it has four power inputs: 12V Battery, 12V when ignition is on, 12V when illumination is on, and ground. I took ignition and illumination from the cigarette lighter and its bezel light. For battery, I found an unused harness under the steering column and tapped it.

Now here is where I messed up: I had to extend the power wiring that came with the unit and before splicing the connector in, I used wire cutters to snip all four wires, forgetting about the always on battery wire...got a decent spark.

When I noticed the ABS light, I checked all fuses and they're fine. I thought maybe the harness wasn't as spare as it appeared and the extra load was the problem, so I disconnected my wiring and restarted...no fix. I reset the ECU...light's still there.

Does this make sense to anyone out there? I'm not sure what to check next. If you can help me out, i'll be sure to send some karma your way at the very next snow storm.
Thanks!

By the way, the gauge works perfectly and ABS works not at all.
