Hi, the supra fuel pump that i had on my impreza just died. What options other than the walbro 255lb/hr are out there? What is the hp capability of the walbro? Anyone knows how to change psi into lb/hr?? i have a bosch fuel pump that flows 90psi, but i have no idea what that is in lbs/hr.
thanks

I dont think you can convert those, they are different measurements, psi is pressure and lb/hr is a volumetric measurement.

the walbro can handle about 400-450 crank hp
you mean CC vs LB/HR

You guys are probably right, i am not so sure about the flow. Thanks for the responses..

you are very wrong mrh00nel
there are people at 500wheel i believe <around 700 crank> on a single walbro

Let's do some math.
It takes 42.41 BTU's burned a minute to equal one horsepower.
The common 255lph pump moves. 4.25 Liters of fuel/minute.
1 liter of fuel contains 27280 BTU's.
Assume a 33% thermal efficiency for the engine (if anybody has any concrete numbers for a turbo subie engine they have my first born).
The pump will flow enough fuel to generate ~911 horsepower. This is in the perfect world though.
Don't expect the pump to last very long flowing at max. capacity. Not to mention the electrical current drain (many popped fuses anyone?) and heat generated.
Ever been in a car making ~500hp on a single walboro? You can hear the pump screaming over all the engine/exhaust noise.
Just introducing a few facts to the heresay that inhabits forums.
Personally I love the pumps. They're cheap and damned reliable. In a resonable street car I've never had one fail on me that wasn't giving fair warning. They are noisey though (I like the noise, personal preference).

first of all if you do reach 500 wheel on a single walbro 255 its maxed. if you are lucky
second. 500 wheel is not 700 crank
because like no-coast-punk said its not a perfect world.
and my car has to have 2 pumps. and so does soon2bgreat 504whp suby. the pump couldnt get over like 382 whp ish, once the 2nd pump was added they got 504whp

Had they upgraded to -8 AN fuel lines or larger? If the lines aren't large enough all the pump does is generate pressure instead of flow and stalls out.

are there kits for tank foward fuel line replacement? or guides even?

None that I've seen.
Stuff like this is sorta out of the realm of simple bolt on stuff. AN fittings are pretty easy to use but there are still a few tricks that come with experience. This is another realm where one has to fall back on hot-rodding stuff as AN fuel systems are common in that world. Be careful though... most vehicle fires in modified stuff comes from improper fuel system design.

yeah...
i just need a replacement line from the tank foward...
what setup are you guys running <that have modded fuel lines, not rails, and not from the underthehood fuel filter up either

how many Horses do you think the STI pump can handle?? I know its much quieter...and its OEM so It's gots be reliable
