View Full Version : UR Underdrive pulley on WRX MikeWRX 09-10-2001, 11:57 AM I doon know bemani 09-10-2001, 01:45 PM Is it just the crack pulley , no other pulley replacement? bemani 09-11-2001, 01:29 PM How heavy is it? I wonder how much better it'd be if other pulleys like the alternator and such are lightened and enlarged also. bmw_in_a_subaru 10-04-2001, 02:54 PM Hi Mike, Have you done any timed results yet regarding your crank pulley modification? If so, what were the results? Before vs. After? Or...are the results only measured "seat-o-pants"? angus 11-03-2001, 06:28 PM Just did mine today. Notes: 1. Easy...even I could do it. 2. Stock pulley is massive. 3. Take 3 extra minutes to remove driver-side fan, and there is PLENTY of room to work. 4. I used a torque wrench w/bar to remove bolt to check factory install and found it to be about 120 ft-lbs; if you have a new car this bolt is easy, definitely NOT a tool-breaker. 5. Improvement IS without a doubt noticeable. 6. Not a bit of dimming at idle with EVERYTHING stock turned on. angus 11-03-2001, 06:31 PM Notice more than enough spce to work with driver-side fan removed... angus 11-03-2001, 06:33 PM Add 1 hp for looking good too... dhs 11-03-2001, 07:35 PM Am I nuts or is the stock pulley a combo pulley and crank harmonic damper? angus 11-04-2001, 07:54 AM sshhhh! Don't even say those words...you'll start another 10-page debate on the subject. dhs 11-04-2001, 09:52 AM Oh, I did a search and can see this has been a heated debate, and I'll take it that the stocker is a balancer as well. Forget I mentioned it :) |
