These are the Hella 500s with the Kartboy PIAA brackets.
Sweet deal, Hellas 500s cost $60 at VIP and $45 for the Kartboy PIAA brackets to mount them. The $60 price is for two lights, relay, switch and all the wiring to mount them correctly. I used the Hella wiring and then used the fog light power to power my relay. The Kartboy PIAA brackets are basically a drop in, drill one hole and you're off (It's the same hole that you have to drill for the PIAA lights).

2 reasons- the main reason being that as I was cutting away the personal assaults on you/Tom/this/that/the other guy wearing the purple hat, it became apparent that I had to cut straight back to nothing or delete the post. All I ask is that it stay on topic and the obvious problems you and Tom have with each other stay out of it. Reason two- I don't like listening to people complain to me that a thread blew up... I took care of it and I'd do it again. Just keep it on topic and professional, and I have no problem. What was posted was a flame war and isn't going to be happening ;).

aside from the moderator scuffle, thanks for this post, kpratte.
I'm just about to do this myself...can't justify the expense for the PIAAs. Did you get the driving lights or the fogs?
thanks

The PIAAs are expensive but I believe they are a metal housing or something.. The Hellas have a plastic housing that holds the lense. The lense includes the glass and the reflector.
I got the driving lights and have the top of the beam aimed a little below the cutoff on the regular lights. So far, nobody has high beamed me. I also had my wife in front of me and she said they are bright, brighter than my headlights but that it just bright not in your face or anything. I'm using the 55 watt bulbs that came with them. The 100 watt bulbs would be total overkill and according to Hella, the 100 watt ones need to be shut off if you are not moving or you'll burn them up.
From the pictures, you can see that the driving lights have a distinct beam pattern to them similar to projector type lights. There is some scattering to the beam, but not too much.
Hope that helps.
