OK, tried to install this (@&!&$ Uppipe myself 3 times now. Still leaks. Leaks and leaks and leaks. All seals and gasket connections look great, but once boost comes on, it still leaks. Argh.

I'm looking for someone to install a Stock STI Uppipe for me, and garantee it will not leak. I'm getting a replacement uppipe from the manufacturer, just incase my current one is bad somehow.

Will pay $300 if you can install it with no leaks.

Any takers? I have a decent garage to work in, or I can travel to you...

that's a lot for uppipe install.. try to adjust ur wastegat solinoid. that might hold ur boost.. ;)

or.. you could take it to a shop and have them install it professionally for $100 bucks...

Positive feedback on jnorth85.... Him and a bunch of other DSM peeps were able to help with my first uppipe mod. Nice guy and even nicer car!

there are no shops around here that will do it for that cheap. Most shops clock it as like 8hrs of labor or something crazy like that. The closest tuning shops would be in chicago, but thats over a 5 hrs drive from here.

Thats just it it...you have to take the DP off to begin with to even get to the uppipe. So, having someone travel to me to install it for $300 seems reasonable...but it has to be done right!

i can vouch for jnorth, we don't have crap here for install shops. but you could maybe try some dsm shops? i think there are some within driving distance of des moines. pm me if you are interested.

jnorth85 will do a good job, he did my turbo swap and IC swap and injectors for me on my old Rex

Have you figured out where the leak is? At the uppipe turbo, at the uppipe manifold, on the the manifold joints, or where the manifold bolts to the heads?

Also when you installed it did you tighten in this sequence. uppipe to the manifold, uppipe to turbo, manifold to itself (i usually seperate the sides and leave the center piece attached to one side), manifold to heads, turbo to down pipe. The noise is really high pitched correct?

Yes, it's a high pitched, irregular squeal, or howl...plus, car is not as responsive...

As for figuring out where the leak is, I have not! I mean, I've tried and tried an no luck. As for tightening sequence, I went like this:

Manifold 1st; Up to Manifold; Up to Turbo; Tighten Turbo Brackets; then downpipe.

I mean, this is basically the same (last time I didnt swap pipes - I simply loosened and new gaskets and retorqued.).
If you know of a better way, or maybe something I could be doing wrong....let me know!

If Jnorth is reading this, I'm attempting to do it 1 more time to see if I can get it, but I am doubtful. I'm sure it will still leak.

You need to do the manifild to UP first this is critical as it is where the leaks usually are, then do up to turbo. After that imo you can do whatever as stuff is pretty much set at that point but I would just do the manifold to the block then the DP to the turbo. There is just not a lot of movement on the manifold uppipe side so it really needs to be done in the sequence to get everything to fit without any gaps. Besed on the noise your gap is small and not visable and on the pre turbo side. Since it is already installed just loosed every thing then retighten in the sequence above and I am willing to bet you should be good to go. Also I would not only lossen the manifold at the heads but also losen one side of the center piece.

I am taking my time on this install. Will finish it this week after work.
On the plus side I got the UP out in under 2 hours, starting from fully-assembled.

Jnorth: I totally appriciate your offers to help, but I knew I had the ability to do it. I mean, if I can pull an engine and do headers, why not a simple pipe? hahah...anyways, I look forward to coming to some kind of subie meet, or something soon.

The only bad thing (other than the 30 hours I spent messing with it) is that I've been without the subie for so long, I can't remember what the turbo spool felt like before this, so I can't measure any improvement!!
