Thanks! Tuning Factory Inc. 01-20-2006, 06:56 AM I'd recommend Wiseco pistons and a nice set of rods. Crower makes our STi rods but not sure if they have some for the 2.5RS. Unabomber 01-20-2006, 08:27 AM The Piston FAQ (http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=907570) is your friend. Search is your friend and this is the wrong forum. I'll move this for you. 8Complex 01-20-2006, 09:39 AM I'd recommend a new EJ257 block (STI/Forster XT/WRX/ Legacy GT stock block). $1500, will run over 300hp at the wheels, and you don't have to worry about piston slap or oil consumption. With the RS heads? Is this all possible with the RS ECU? Or would I have to go standalone? If the RS ECU is possible.. what could I possibly do to tune it? Matt Monson 01-20-2006, 12:17 PM You would either need a standalon or a really good piggyback to tune it. The RS heads outflow stock WRX heads, which is why these days many guys boosting an RS just replace their shortblock and go from there. It makes sense since a set of rods and pistons will cost about the same as an STI shortblock, and none of the brain ache of rebuilding a bottom end. AWDsub 01-20-2006, 01:31 PM I went with STi internals in my RS shortblock, and yes your RS ECU would be fine but you will need a piggyback like a Perfect Power to run any kind of boost. I love having the RS ECU for the reliability of my car always starting no matter the weather and the gas mileage. Piggybacks are reliable and effective but with a standalone you can raise the redline and not have open/close loop. Sko 01-21-2006, 02:00 AM I'm going w/ Wiseco or JE pistons made for the RS w/ lower compression, stock rods are fine. Going to take my SOHC cams to Delta cams to get regrinded, add a reinforced spring and titainium retainer kit and boost like crazy! |
