In the on going battle between the Vendors of Subaru Parts and the Dealerships that have no idea how to get Subaru Parts. In the end the loser is YOU!!!

First you have all of the Vendors out there who either don’t have the $$$$ To keep a full inventory of parts that people might want or need. Or some other reason for not having the parts you might be looking for in stock

Second you have the Dealership that is usually so wrapped up in other politics pertaining to service, warranty, or other Dealership stuff, That they really have no idea the money they could be raking in from performance tuning.

Now the Dealers main problem is that they have no idea “ Other than the Extras Brochures for the car they just sold you” of the parts that Subaru makes for their cars. And the FACT that they can get these parts. Most of the time unless you know EXACTLY what Part you are looking for and the Part # u are dead in the water!

Now comes the conflict between the 2. On one hand u have the Vendor who really wants you to buy Subaru Parts from them, pay their mark up, and if they don’t have the part wait around for them until they do. May GOD help you if u ever DARE to ask a Vendor the part # for any Subaru product. They are liable to have a fit over the phone going something along the lines of “ Well we work to hard to get these Part #’s blah blah blah”

Now we all know that Subaru can sell you Subaru Parts cheaper than any Vendor ever could. At one time this was not the case but in the last year things have changed. I mean think about it. The Vendors have to buy these parts from Subaru at a Vendors price. Don’t u think that A Subaru Dealer is going to get a much better price on a Subaru Part than some Vendor. Yes I think so

So I guess what it comes back to is these elusive Part #’s that I keep talking about. What we need is more access to these number’s and to make your local Dealer more aware of the parts and market that they are missing out on. Now the Vendors still have their place. I am talking about Subaru brand parts ONLY! It’s not like I am talking about Cusco, DMS, SYMS or other aftermarket companies that make parts for Subaru’s. For this is the market for the Vendors.

Until we can get reliable part #'s for the parts we want, we are at the mercy of the Vendors.

I'd rather deal with a vendor's markup than getting raped by dealers. Yeah they can get it cheaper, but theres no chance they'll pass that saving onto you.

I won't even buy oil filters from my dealer. They do not deserve any money from me - The service has been worse than horrible.

I'll go elsewhere.

If you order genuine subaru parts from a 3rd party vendor, ask them to leave it in the bag it comes with for proof that it's genuine. Then get part number from label. Eat cost. Share P/N with I-Club.

I've purchased the genuine parts from Pam before with good results. Lisa and Ryan will be receiving a call soon enough for a large order of gaskets. My dealership is charging double what subaruparts.com is charging. :mad:

Sometimes if you are really nice, you can get the dealership to pull the part numbers off their little VIN number part search. My dealership's service department had a field day with my transmission and because of that, I may be able to source various part numbers... I have all the shift linkage P/N's now :)

Man, this is what? the third time you brought this up. ONCE again let me school you:
1st: I've NEVER taken the part number off of ANY STi part we sold.
2nd: North Ur. has EVERY STi part # on his website, and hell any he doesn't have I'll be glad to give HIM.
3rd: NO Subaru dealer is cheaper than a vendor. I've said this to you before, but you seem not to learn...Just look at the STi Short Shifter they sell from 200-300 before install. We sell it for $175...that's cheaper than Dealerships last time I checked.
4th: Don't you think there was a reason your first two threads died, maybe, now just maybe, You are Wrong.

Wow, thanks for all that! I've seen those parts listings and numbers at the UK site, but haven't seen them at any local dealer.

Heck, I've even gone to the dealer and mentioned the part and part number and they weren't able to help me. Have you any idea with whom I could get in touch regarding an OEM front lip spoiler and the sports front grille. The catch here is I need Sedona Red Pearl. Any dealership and many vendors (such as Sugar) offer the front lip, but only in the three most popular colors (silver, white and blue).

So far, my best guess was to order the parts from En-guh-land but if I can avoid that and order from here in the States, I'd probably do that.

You've got to check out North Ur's website! I'm a dealership and an aftermarket vendor and I've used his part numbers before. He always seems to be right on the money with his part numbers. I used his numbers for the 4 pot front brakes and got everything I needed. We are putting them and a set of P1 wheels on a blue WRX sedan that is going on the showroom floor. I can't wait to take it for a very short spin and see how it stops. Take care, Brian

JUST FYI...most of the numbers that Faraz supplied do NOT apply to Subaru of America part numbers. There are a lot of numbers in that list that do you NO good unless you pass them on to an overseas supplier.
I have no problems handing out part numbers. Anything anyone wants...US, UK, or Japanese...just let me know...want a part number...it's yours. Doesn't hurt me any to help someone out. Anything that Subaru Of America has a part number for, you can have. Just ask.

In regards to dealer prices being waaay above vendor prices, that isn't quite right. If you ask anyone that has bought genuine parts from me off the I-club you will see that I have always given the best deal possible. Often times less than a 3rd party vendor is willing to sell for.

Edit 2004: Irvine Subaru WAS the bomb when Ryan and Horacio worked there. Now they're just another sleazy, lying dealer.

Like Irine Subaru mentioned most of the parts are not orderable through Subaru, However I am always willing to make some phone calls to SOA and sometimes it results in Fuji releasing the parts, most for the performance parts it is very difficult. Fuji and a problem with SOA selling certain Performance parts do to safty and emission laws.
When I do get parts released or order STI parts the cost to us as a dealer many times is the same as if I were to buy them from performance shops, I really do not know where they get them. We run a Pro Rally car and we are always searching for Subaru parts at the best prices and we usually give large discounts for parts that are used on rally car or track cars because as rally and track drivers ourselves we know how expensive things get.
So before you jump down the dealers throats you should see what we have to deal with for getting these performance parts from Fuji.

I work in parts at a dealership..and I can tell you...I 'source' my stuff from all over... including the UK, Japan, Aus whatever....just to make sure we cater to the customer....If I don't have it...I know where to get it...:)

It was a slow process but over the years we have become involved in performance, getting many of the parts that Subaru does not supply our dealership with from the UK Austrailia and Japan. Mostly because we need to build our Rally cars so we just decided stocking there stuff was great for the rally car repairs and when guys what stuff we have it.

FWIW, this thread is becoming increasingly less relevant. Subaru is much freer with good parts and part numbers, and for a large part, many of the folks who have been around since the beginning are now working for Subaru or dealerships (or were). I'm working with Subaruwrxparts.com, Jamie is with Allsubaru.com, Scooby South is with Subaru of Jacksonville; McDade, Faraz, Hondaslayer, Unit 91 (well, not anymore :D), and others (the list goes on and on) have gone over to the "dark side" and made it a bit less dark. There are folks who came into the deal in 2001 with the WRX introduction who never knew what it was like to pay $200 for a factory rear swaybar and that the only brake upgrade was the Subaru 4 pots :). It's like a walk in the park today to find performance parts for these cars- the Impreza is the new Honda Civic :lol:.

Langston Subaru, it's two or three years late, but that you for the kudos about my website :).

For what it's worth, can anyone out here source me a Subaru CD changer bracket...PN: H6210FE902, and if so..for what cost shipped to Portsmouth, NH 03801? I'm hoping to use and/or modify this bracket to allow me to mount my JVC 12 disc changer safely and securely on the underside of the parcel shelf in the trunk of my STi. Any and all help would be thoroughly appreciated.

I wish We had some good parts guys out here in the West end of the Valley,California.
I only post here because after spending nearly two months back and forth from Subaru of Thousand Oaks I realize one thing, subaru is only as good as the people they hire. Hats off to those who can do there job well. It is to bad in every experience I have had with subaru it has been very bad. The behavior is tolerable but not good. The service and workmanship is piss poor.

I must have logged over 15 visits to pick up only a outer CV joint boot and factory style boot clamps for my 2004 STI. The first few times it was " your parts here" I go to pick it up and they ordered a 2002 wrx boot or thy cant find it or 'we must have sent it back' and best one was tell " it is the updated boot!" I drive home and pick up my old boot and compare. Not even close. I bring my old one with me as well as the bands and we try again,and again,and again,and again. I call around try valley dodge subaru and have the same problem..... After a long, long wait I tell the guy to call subaru of america. I call them myself and they talk to them and then 1 day later I have the right parts!!!!!!!!!!!
I could have ordered an entire axle for less than the cost of the boot and the driving I did to get this thing(gas). On a good note it took me 30 min to put it all back together and have had no problems for over 3 weeks.
Sorry for digging this up but it was the worst service I ever had. I am very easygoing so this is bad. I am suprised subaru dose not care.
