THESE ARE the first official photos of BMW’s new Z4 based Coupe, that retains the muscular looks of the concept we saw last year at the Frankfurt Motor show. BMW’s answer to the Cayman coupe will be available in two editions, the 3.0 and the M. The Z4 Coupe boasts a much stiffer body than the roadster, promising better handling.

The 3.0 is fitted with a straight 6 cylinder 3,0 litre engine that produces 265 hp while the M edition is fitted with the M3 straight 6 engine that blows out 343 hp. According to Munich, the Z4 M weighs 1.420 kg (80 kg heavier than the Porsche Cayman S) and it is capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h -or- 62 mp/h in 5,0 sec. Top speed is, electronically limited at 250 km/h -or- 155 mp/h.

BMW has put a smaller tank in the Z4 Coupe in order to help boost boot space (300 litres). According to inside information, when it goes to sale in the summer, the Z4 3.0 Coupe will cost less than the 3.0 Roadster, while the M version will undercut Porsche’s Cayman S price by15%!

Looks like a 1 series with a different roof and rear end.

I like it though, even though it's unnecessarily phallic. :lol:

I'm sorry, but I think BMW's designs have gone to hell..... Those cars are ugly.... :(

I think the last picture of the M Coupe is attractive, but all cars seem to be adding poundage. Not good for the sporting bit.

It could be (and should be for a 2 seater) lighter, but still, under 3200 lbs and 343HP is not heavy and underpowered in my book. It's got the same engine as the E46 M3, and weighs ~150 lbs less.

Now as far as the looks goes, I think it's the closest rival to the 1-series for the ugliest bimmer ever.

EDIT: Sorry, didn't see the pics of Z4 coupe, which must be what you were talking about.

ye, unpractical also, smaller fuel tank = fill up every 200 miles..
3.0 = non M...
Once they put 3.5 engine in it, then we can talk reasonable power @ somewhat reasonable price..

I don't care about the weight. That car is sexy. Hopefully the M's are still made in Germany so I can fly out there to get one. No point travelling to Spartenburg.

I've seen it in person at Naias, and it looks better in person than it does in the pics. The one I saw had a matt silver paint on it that looked really cool.

Different look, just like all the new BMW's, I'm sure it will grow on me though.

Caymen S is around $59,000, so the M should sell for about $50,000. Too much.

It doesn't really get me very worked up,but its cool anyways.I appreciate it for what it is,and how it probably drives.

they remind me of the 4 million dollar daytonas kind of...maybe it is the long nose and cut off back end /shrug

That car is going to make it hard to stay away from the BMW dealership, especially when they introduce the M edition.

i hope i can buy one of these used someday, M coupe or not. If its gonna be approx. the same price of an M3, I'll get to wait a lot longer...

The 3.0 just doesn't look quite right, but the M edition is HOT!

The bulbous nose is partly due to the new Euro pedestrian safety regulations. Get used to higher noses in general.

Wait until they put v8 in there...
