View Full Version : I need new tires.

I have an 04 WRX STI and the stock tires need to be replaced. I'm compairing Falken RT-615's to the Michelin pilot sport. I've read a lot of good reviews on the Falkens and they are cheaper than the Michelins but I have been told that the Michelins will last longer. 95% of my driving is to and from work and an occasional auto cross when I can take a day off. I just want a good sticky tire that does well in the rain. I like the stock Potenza's but they are too expensive. Any feedback or suggestions would be appreciated. :)

The 615s are not very good in the rain and probably aren't the best choice as a daily driver.

I was looking at Goodyear Eagle F1's also. What do you use?

Anybody using these? How do they compare to the Azenis?

If you autoX you will be seriously disappointed with the performance of the Michelins and the Goodyears. Either, a) find some RE070 takeoffs (I got a set w/500 miles on em for $400), b) Get the RT-615s (slightly better in the wet than the 070s), or c) break down and get the Advans ($$$ but excellent performance).

I would say that the RE070's make a worse daily driver than the 615's. The 615's are nto great in the rain though.

The Rs2's would be a good daily driver choice and are not too expensive at all. RE070 takes off's can be a great deal if found at the right price ~ $400 or less (I have seen them at 250). 615's are good tires and make decent daily's and are good for autox, but are more than the RS2's. the Advan Neova's are probably the stickiest street tires out right now, but are $$$$$.

I just installed (this week) a set of brand new take-off RE070s - holy poopstain! Much better than the Falken Azenis Sports I was running on two other cars - more road feel, less feel like a cheap brick, etc.
