Thinking of going with a stage 2 soon. The access port is pretty impresive from what I have read. I have a few questions that probably seem very newb but I have searched and have not found direct answers. So here goes.

1. Is a Protune basically a custom map for the AP?

2. If I get a 16g turbo later, Can the AP be "protuned" for the turbo and my mods with a custom map?

I know these questions may seem stupid but I am pretty new to WRX's and the terminology sometimes gets me.

1) Yes.

2) Yes. The AP can be tuned for pretty much anything 99% of people are likely to throw at it, including a 16g.
