I know the answer depends - so lets say for a 17" rim. I was told that about 235 was as wide as you could go - less if you lowered the car - without wheel well work. But I noticed that Alex has 245s which is what prompted this question. I would love wider tires! Thanks

I dont have 245's. Thats a mistake. I have 225's.

Some tuners in Japan are running 255's on 17x9.5 rim. ;) Possible.

Since Alex doesn't have 245s, then I pose another question: Is anybody running tires that are fatter than 225? Did it require well work or do they rub? Any info would be great!

but, why? I doubt the tires are breaking loose on you unless you're running sub 13 sec in the 1320. It'd be cool though, but the price keeps getting higher and higher. Also, that's just more rotating mass that you're adding.

my good friend with a wrx got some bbs wheels, not the factory ones, but they are 17X 7 or 7.5 i dont know which, but he has 245's on em. and they look , appear to work great.

245 is probably overkill on a rim of that width.

in general, you want to fit the smallest tire you can on your width of wheel. This give optimal sidewall stiffness.

I mostly wanted to know for the purpose of looks. Unless, of course, I ever get my rex to 500hp... ;)

Will 225/45-17 hurt the performance compared to a 215/45-17. If you get a light enough rim, how much will the added tire size cost ya in power. Anybody have any clue?
