I was running the stage 2 regular 91 map without knocking and this past weekend I decided to flash to the CA to play safe since CA gas sucks a$$. Man the CA map felt quite a bit slower than the regular map and I was only hitting 14.5 PSI. I called Cobb this morning and asked them about that, and the guy said the CA map was tuned down a lot to cope with the additive in the CA gas. I told him that my peak boost was only 14.5 PSI and he said that's normal for the CA map.
Wow I didn't know that the CA map was tuned down so much. Do any of you who are in CA and run on the CA map experience this?

Actually your target boost stays the same.
If you were running ok on the normal map I'd switch back. (fast=fun)
Whats up with the 1.8 in your profile? Do you have mods other than the map notes reccomendations?

yeah i think i'll switch back to the normal map. i wasn't getting knocks with the normal map anyway. the CA stage 2 map felt like stage 1 on my car =(
haha i put down 1.8 because i don't have a catback. does that prevent me from getting the targeted boost of 15.8 PSI?

A while ago, Cobb's map notes said something about not hitting target boost without a full turboback. I'm not sure if they still say that or not. I've been using a Cobb downpipe with the stock intermediate pipe and an STi muffler for a while... it seems to work fine, and I hit whatever target boost should be for the map I'm running. I think things like weather, load, and the gear you're in will have a bigger effect on peak boost than a catback.

yeah it seems like people are hitting target boost even without a 3" catback. does a warmer or colder weather help with the boost?
