What is the best engine management system to get? I have looked at the COBB accessport as well as the turbo xs. There is a big price difference, but also a big difference in what you can do. What do you all suggest? Or is there a different one than these two I should look at?

first and foremost I would suggest searching, once you are done with that, come back and ask speicific questions pertaining to the positives and negatives of each EM, as it is now you will get a lot of useless posts telling you to search, and a lot of useless posts saying this one is better than that one.

All depends on what features you want. Neither one is "better" -- they both have their own strengths and weaknesses. Look at their respective features and ease of use, then make a decision on which one suits you better.

I chose the TXS UTEC for my application. It enabled me to tweak my car the way I wanted. Ability to switch maps on the fly is a nice addition.

huh? you can blow your engine with anything. Its all about the tune man... UTEC, Hydra, Cobb, EcuTek can all be tuned to run great..

You can easily blow your engine if you modify parameters in ANY engine management solution without knowing what you are doing. I wouldn't tell someone who doesn't know what AFR is that they should use a UTEC just like I wouldn't tell a pro tuner to buy a Cobb AP.

I think it is fair to say that if the original poster is asking which the best EM system is out there, a UTEC may be a little over his head at this point. Nothing to be ashamed of...

the individual *seems* more like a candidate for a reflash of either cobb or ecutek variety imo.

What do you want to do with your car? Stage 2 and your done, then get a cobb AP, if you want to upgrade turbo and injectors later on get a UTEC or Perfect Power 7, and if you wanta 2.5 liter stage 2 block with GT35R then you might even need more than that.

^they're has been people and shops running a 2.5 stage 2 block even 3 with a GT35R putting like 500WHP and their protuned

Yes yes, use me as an example. I got an ecutek flash and regret it. I only regret it because I can't find a good local tuner to get it tuned. I want to be able to make an appointment with a local tuner and get it re-tuned if I want to. Once I upgrade the intercooler and a few other things I'd like to get it tuned.

I'm now debating getting the Accessport so I can flash it easily and get it tuned by taking it to Jorge at P&L. I just dont know what to do with the current one I have...

Any one want to trade with some cash for an ecutek? ehhe

Its like others have said. It depends on how far you want to go with your car in terms of mods.

The thing about the COBB AP....which I have and love. 2006 WRX stage 2 w/ cobb dp. Yeah! :banana: :disco: :banana:

Ok. The thing about COBB AP is they tune there maps to be used with specific parts. If you don't mind going their path life is great.

Even that said. You can always get a Protune.

I love my AP because Its easy to remove incase I need service at the dealer. And COBB parts and customer service are the tops.. That helped me make up my mind on who to go with.

I've had both my REX's with COBB parts and their AP and I would recommend it to anyone who wants EM but also likes the freedom of removing it when they need to.

GTMotorsports is local, but an ekutec with 2 hours of dyno time is 1050... and i was curious to if there were any other places that you guys would suggest.

Check cobbs website. They have a list of tuners on there home page. :)
