Hello everyone, I'm new to the sti family, I have a 04 Sti and I am looking for something easy. . . my goals are just for some type of reflash that doesn't require tuning.

I live in Kentucky where there are no AWD dyno's and tuning just isn't a possibility. What is recommended for just ecu reflashing, where can i get it done, and what kind of performance can i expect?

BTW everything is bone stock right now.

Yea the above is probably a good option in your case - and should you mod it later on you can get specific maps for your car from places like pdxtuning.com that seem to be getting a lot of good feed back lately... Enjoy - welcome to a new addiction (err I mean hobby)

Thanks guys, I've been looking/hearing alot about cobb and I'm kinda confused on how everything works. . .

I reflash it my self from a map that I download from the internet. . .what exactly do the different maps do?

Will they raise boost psi if the map is set up that way? . .

What kind of difference can i expect?

please correct me if I am wrong about anything i say because I really know nothing about sti's at this point other than they are QUICK :D

1) The different maps change timing, fueling, and boost curves appropriate for the level of modification they are designed for.

2) Yes, they generally raise maximum target pressure.

3) Depends on your mods. On a stock STi, the Cobb will net you around 325 crank HP. With an exhaust, more like 350.

What part of KY are you in? I thought for sure I had heard of a couple shops down there with AWD dynos (like around Lexington). But even beyond that I would agree that the Cobb AP is a good simple way to go. Speaking of which, I bet Somerset would be a good place to open a tuner shop (as long as you can mod boats too).

I live in Louisville, it's roughly an hour from Lex. . .I don't talk to people from lex very much so I haven't heard anything of any awd dyno's . . I think a place called Horsepower house has one but I have heard things about them that i don't like.

Yep, that is the one I had heard mentioned; but no idea if they are worth going to.

I'm not sure of the distance but look into having Jack tune your car, He is great. simple as that.
