Doh!!! I just wrote this huge message...then accedently closed the browser....Damn.

Well I don't fell like writing all that stuff again so I'll be brief.

My name is Mike and I'm moving to denver in mid Nov from Omaha NE(no, I'm not a farmer).

I'm a graphic artist and I'm going to need a job as soon as I get there...any idea's?

I am pretty sure I'll be moving into the Post Uptown Square(seems like a nice place).

Here are some of the things I would like to do so any feedback would cool....

I want to learn to snowboard so if anyone wants to introduce me to your mountains, let me know.
I like electronica...are there any good clubs in Denver?
My girlfriend...oh, thats why I'm moving ;)
Hangin out with Subie guys.
Playing FPS games on my computer.
Driving....I love to drive!

I know there is a big subaru croud in Co Springs, so I could drive down and meet anybody who is interested.

I guess this message isn't very brief..oh well.

If anyone wants to chat, I have MSN Instant Messanger.

Look me up,
Later Guys(or Gals)!

mike,
I can tell you the market for graphic artists is very tight at the moment and I'm speaking from personal experience. Look up Aquent.com, they're a placement agency for us types. Check the Denver Post online, try and find something before you come out, as I said jobs are few and far between.

Good luck, Mark

Welcome to colorado when you get here.

The snow will be here "hopefully" by the time you get here. So going snowboarding and i would be more then happy to hangout on the slopes with you.

the club sceen is something that i'm out of touch with sence i'm not much of a elctronica fan. but there are a hand-full of cool clubs my friends hang out. but just check them out and see what you like. e-mail me if you want a list of clubs not to go to.

Welcome again

and later

I would love to go snowboarding with whoever wants to go, I'm not familiar with what resorts are good for boarding, anyone have suggestions for that? I want to get a season's pass, but I don't know where the best place to get one for snowboarding would be, but I'll go with you boarding. I'm not familiar with the club scene since I just moved back, but I like electronica, so if you find any cool places, you'll have to tell me.

Oh, I forgot...I like movies and my girlfriend is kinda picky, so I'm gonna need some movie buddies.

I also forgot to ask about the cops in the area, anything I sould watch out for?

One last question(for now). I heard insurance is pretty expensive in denver. anyone know an agent that can get me a good rate?

Thanks for any info.

I've heard that Vail is pretty sweet for boarding. I've gone a few times and finally bought the gear for it so I can be full-on this season. Most of my friends board and we all get the Buddy Pass (Arapahoe Basin, Keystone [the only night skiing in CO!], and Breckenridge. They all seem to like the terrain at A-Basin the best. Winter Park is also a good place, from what I hear (I've only skied there once, about 8 years ago).

As far as electronica-type bars, I'm not the biggest fan of the genre so I won't even try to pretend that I know of some good places. You might check out the Westword paper or go to some of the record stores (Soulflower) for parties, clubs, etc. My roommates used to be ravers/promoters, so I'm not *totally* clueless about it...:D

As far as cops, they have better things to do than hassle people (never had an encounter w/ them myself). In the summertime there's the ever-present police helicopter flying around the city, but they only have one for the whole city. I wouldn't worry about them too much.

I have no idea what people are paying for insurance in Denver, especially on a turboed car. I have a '98 RS, and since I turn 30 next weekend my rate just dropped to $130/month. I have a multi-policy discount (renters ins.), $100 deductable, full coverage. I use State Farm, had them since I started driving at age 16, and get a small refund from the every year. Never had a problem with them.

Hope that gives you a little more of an idea of what to expect when you get here! Feel free to email me if you have any more questions.

Later,
-Chris

Insurance-I guess it is where you come from. I'm originally from AZ and I saw a huge drop when I got here. A little gloat-I just got married and bought the WRX in the same month. It cost me $7 per month to add the WRX with the drop from getting married and going to the multi-car discount. :D I am 28 with no tickets. I would agree about the cops in Denver, nothing to worry about, but the radio stations (some) do a cool thing and have the listeners call in speed traps and photo-radar.

Also, add me to the list of people who would like to do a Subaru/snowboarding meet. I love boarding at Vail, Keystone, Breckenridge (too many stupid people) in that order.
