View Full Version : Question about Cobb Pro-Tune - installing Helix Catted D/P this Saturday.

Anyone have any ideas on the numbers I will be running after the pro-tune?

I am currently Stage 1, with the only mod being a catback Tsudo N1 style exhaust, which I understand adds nothing.

This weekend I am going to TDC tuning in Concord, NH, and having my Helix D/P (catted) installed along with Crucial Racing (vendor on NASIOC) copper gaskets installed, along with a Cobb heat shield.

Instead of just flashing to Stage 2 93 octane off the shelf Cobb map, I am going to have TDC dyno tune the car & create a custom map for me.

Any idea on what WHP I will be running after that? I understand that a stock STi is usually 240-255 stock WHP.... stage 1 must have kicked that up a little bit....

I will be getting a before/after dyno plot, so it should be interesting - I am looking forward to it - is Stage 1 and Stage 2 really a different beast? (hopefully the custom tuned Stage 2 will be better than the off the shelf Cobb map for 93 octane).

Thanks,

Steve

Stage 2 will be TOTALLY different for you.

EQ Tuning has done a couple STi's with the Helix highflow and a WRX or two.... you might want to e-mail him and ask his thoughts... Ed (at) EQTuning.com

Thanks Jeremy, email was sent....

Once again, thanks for the quick shipment of your copper gaskets and hardware - great customer service!

Steve,

Numbers are kind of hard to guess in this case because I don't know what type of dyno you're going to be on. The Mustang Dyno's in this area put a stock STI at ~220whp. A stage 1 (stock + tune) makes about 240-250whp and a catted stage 2 like your car generally makes around 260-270whp. Now remember that this is on california 91 octane and a low reading dyno. For dynoje numbers multiply by 1.15 and you should be in the ballpark. Good luck and let us know how the tune turns out.

Thanks

Ok, got back at 7:30 after the ride home. I had a good time. Jon is a great guy.

Here are the results - they are in different charts, but it's basically showing my car with the "stock" map, the Stage 1 off the shelf from Cobb, Stage 2 off the shelf, and then the ProTune from Jon Stage 2. I had a Helix high flow catted d/p installed, and I have a Tsudo N1 style exhaust.

So, my stock number for HP was 245whp/254tq - and it went to 289.5whp/322tq after the ProTune.

The Stage 2 off the shelf map was compared to ProTune Stage 2on this sheet, but I think there was a mistake because this one shows 270whp peak at the bottom, but I may be reading it incorrectly.

Are the "stock" numbers of your car with the stock ECU or are they a baseline completely stock STI?

Thanks

No, they are the Cobb "stock" flash, I never did any pulls in an unmarried or pre-flash state. The stock HP of 245 sounds about right I think...based on what I have read.
