since the gauge pod i ordered was not in stock, i needed a temp location for my gauge pod. Looking around inside my interior, i eyed the ISO-DIN pocket right below my stereo. It looked like a good place so I broke out the dremel and went to town.
this is the gauge in the dash:

and another one:

This is the view from the engine compartment so you can see how I hooked it up:

Which JVC model is that? The SH55, SH99 or some other one?
Also, which install kit did you purchase(for which model car)?
Guage looks good and there is room for a few more in there!
Maybe an EGT and an oil temp?

yeah Cjchaps, i mounted it left like that with the idea that I could potentially put another in there to the right if i wanted. THere is presently room for the head unit's remote to go in the pocket next to the gauge although under heavy acceleration the remote sometimes launches out of the pocket!
It's a JVC SH99. Install kit? You mean for the radio? It's just a generic ISO-DIN pocket like you would use for a toyota (although the holes don't line up until you adjust their attitude a little with the dremel) and then the wiring harness that crutchfield threw in with the receiver. That's really all that's needed.

awww damn nick .. I thought you were just going to leave the gauge bouncing around on your floorboards or just make Ryan hold it. =)

That install looks really easy, was it?

the hardest part was physically threading the nylon tube to where I wanted it to go. Really tight underneath the IC where I came thru the firewall. Also really tight up behind the radio. I Ended up using a straigtened flexible rod that I have for just such a purpose.
but yes... It was very easy. Just a little creative dremel'ing and spare time. Actually, most mods are "easy" if you just take your time to do it properly and you have all the right tools and supplies.

Hey I have those same shoes!
Anyway, what size gauge is that. I want to do a custom with 2 gauges (BOOST and EGT) under my Clarion Deck.

it's a VDO 2 1/16" vac/boost gauge from summitracing.com. It cost me like 26+shipping i think? It didn't come with the hookup hardware so I had to goto autozone and get a pressure gauge hookup kit (some brass fittings and a nylon tube) as well as a brass 1/8" NPT T fitting and two more 1/8" NPT hose thinigies to screw into the T.
Total investment was about $35 i think.
