View Full Version : 520.7 Hp 2.0 Wrx From Puerto Rico

TOMASCS

Just wanted to share with you another WRX with hight HP from Puerto Rico.

This WRX made 520.7 HP. This was with a conservative
tune. The map will be worked on to gain faster spool up
and a more crisp Dyno Graph.

The Car was detunned a bit and taken to the track and ran 11.51 @ 120.66 mph. The Owner/Driver had a hard time driving the car actually tried to go the whole 1/4 mile in 4th gear (car has a 6 speed) and we also
had some clutch problems. As soon as this gets fixed we will
be visiting the track one again.

here is the time slip:
http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/7/web/511000-511999/511727_211_full.jpg

I will post the Dyno Chart sometime tomorrow.

since it spins faster at the equation it makes the fuel swirl in the combusion chamber better than any Tornado, thus, the impressive power numbers. :D

the only difference between usdm sti heads and usdm wrx heads is the cams.

uhh... can someone else confirm/deny this?

i was under the impression that aside from AVCS (and cams obviously), the WRX heads didnt flow NEARLY as well, due to smaller ports, and the fact that the exhaust makes 2 90degree turns before exiting the heads, whereas on the STi, it doesnt (or isnt nearly as severe)

(note, we are NOT talking about JDM v.7 / v.8 heads)

JasperSTi:

It is public knowledge that Subaru has made some strange things. You are correct about your post. However, we have found 02-03 WRXs with 3 different heads (Cams, Exhaust/Porting Sizes) and trust me the difference is VERY noticeable.

We first noticed it when I sent my block to Quirt (Crawford). He in fact told me those were the smallest port size heads he have seen in a Subaru. So I opted for a set
of v8 SpecC heads/cams.

For more info, Id suggest you PM Jeff Sponaugle. (AZScoobie)

I just have 1 question.. If the tune was "conservative" at 530whp.. why did it get detuned again and only trap 120mph?
Not bashing, not starting ****.. Just curious.. 120mph would be about 100hp detune from an already conservative tune.

My guess would be due to a noob driver.. It's silly to put someone new to a car out on the track with max hp when you tuner can just detune a bit and keep you safe(er)..
